Project planning environmental impact study

The authority granting permission to build will depend upon the type and size of building. Major projects, such as nuclear power stations or large industrial complexes, may involve a public enquiry and the need to produce a study into the environmental impact. Though a committee nominated by the local authority will consider the planning submission. [Pg.50]

The modeling and optimisation of concentrate discharge to reduce environmental impacts has been the focus of numerous studies (Al-Barwani and Pumama 2007, 2008 Alameddine and El-Fadel 2007 Bleninger and Jirka 2008 Malcangio and Petrillo 2010 Pumama and Al-Barwani 2004 Pumama et al. 2003). Much of this research has been for a project by the Middle Eastern Desalination Research Center, Environmental Planning, Prediction and Management of Brine Discharges from Desalination Plants. [Pg.32]

Already in an early stage of a project, starting to collect data of the physical (subsoil, bathymetry, waves, currents, wind) and environmental setting of the proposed reclamation site and borrow area is important. This information is not only required to support the feasibility study, but it will in later stages also be helpful to better plan successive site investigations. Some studies, like an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), may require much time to complete and should be started as soon as possible to avoid interference with the overall project planning. [Pg.14]

The basic aim of the main study phase is to develop the necessary basis for government approval and for the main contracts. The project matnres the concept further and establishes a contractual strategy, technical specifications and other tender documents. A Plan for the development and operation of the installation and an Environmental Impact statement are developed and transmitted to the authorities. They are based on input from different SHE studies, including a coarse Risk and Emergency Preparedness Analysis (REPA). A primary aim is to provide input to the documentation required by the authorities. The different SHE analyses... [Pg.314]
