Project development phase

Many Airservices Australia project plans specifically include an HF assessment of the proposed changes as part of the project development phase. Consequently, an appropriately qualified HF specialist is assigned to the project to carry out the necessary assessments during the project s development rather than simply providing an assessment at implementation, which wonld then require workarounds to overcome any identified human capability limitations. [Pg.193]

The most important activities during the phase of platming and execution are shown in Figures 1.6 and 1.7. The project development phase comprising the period from the idea for the project to the invitation to tender usually requires one to three years. Owing to difficulties in the field of research and development or problems arising from political arguments, to mention only two possible reasons, the phase of project development may, in individual cases, span up to ten years. [Pg.11]

When an oil or gas field has just been discovered, the quality of the information available about the well stream may be sparse, and the amount of detail put into the process design should reflect this. However, early models of the process along with broad cost estimates are needed to progress, and both design detail and cost ranges narrow as projects develop through the feasibility study and field development planning phases (see Section 12.0 for a description of project phases). [Pg.239]

Before setting about the task of developing such a model, the product development process requires definition along with an indication of its key stages, this is so the appropriate tools and techniques can be applied (Booker et al., 1997). In the approach presented here in Figure 5.11, the product development phases are activities generally defined in the automotive industry (Clark and Fujimoto, 1991). QFD Phase 1 is used to understand and quantify the importance of customer needs and requirements, and to support the definition of product and process requirements. The FMEA process is used to explore any potential failure modes, their likely Occurrence, Severity and Detectability. DFA/DFM techniques are used to minimize part count, facilitate ease of assembly and project component manufacturing and assembly costs, and are primarily aimed at cost reduction. [Pg.266]

Rept. for July 1978-June 1979 from Exxon Research and Engineering Company to U.S. Department of Energy and Electric Power Research Institute under Contract No. EF-77-A-01-2893, September 1979. [Pg.39]

There is a considerable interest in computational models to predict the safety of NCEs in the drug discovery and development phases. Insight into the safety pharmacological potential of a scaffold or series of structures early in the drug discovery process could help the medicinal chemists to prioritize particular scaffolds or hits or alternatively can contribute halting the discovery process for a given research project. The main safety... [Pg.275]

A sponsor of a medical product entering the development phase must have a clinical development plan, which is created by experienced executives and consultants having expertise and experience in the disease state for which the product is intended. Once the plan is created, with appropriate input from regulators, the plan drives a clinical development budget, with consideration of the desired timeframe for projected producf approval. After the plan is created, the management team determines the "make vs. buy" strategy, which determines the elements of fhe plan that will be outsourced. [Pg.416]

With these considerations in mind, it becomes clear that the information extraction capability of chemomet-rics can be quite useful in several PAT-relevant situations, especially during the research and development phase of a project, or when one is trying to improve customer confidence in the capability of a calibration. As a result, a short discussion of several common exploratory tools will be made here. [Pg.398]

The second phase in WE-NET was completed one year ahead of schedule in 2002, and was succeeded by a new project "Development of basic technologies for the safe use of H2", which started in 2003 (see above). [Pg.154]

During the research and development phases of a project financial appraisal can and should be carried out frequently, in order to check that the process under review still constitutes an efficient use of resources. For instance, evaluation of the results of basic research or pilot scale versions of the process etc. are valuable exercises, provided sufficiently accurate information can be generated to enable a confident decision to be made concerning a positive commitment to the next stage of the project. Such information is additionally important since it highlights any inter-relationships between the various steps in the process and the final cost of the product, and indicates those operations where further efforts in process development can give the greatest beneficial effects on the cost of the product. [Pg.490]

The team then compares the different outcomes, and uses these to discuss which concept or concepts to develop further. The discussion is important, as the decision that you take has large consequences for the development phase of the project. Development is usually by far the most work, so a wrong decision here is serious. Is everybody happy with the result If not, what are the reasons why If one person knows more about a certain problem than the others there may be good reasons to listen carefully and change the choice. You may also find that you do not really know enough about some concepts. Then you will either... [Pg.94]

The goal of the first project s phase was to justify top-priority tasks which implementation should be initiated immediately. In addition, further development of the result was proposed up to generation of top-priority measures (projects). [Pg.15]

The work under SMP (SMP Report) comprises six interrelated chapters (tasks) aimed at attaining an ultimate goal - identifying top-priority measures (projects). General structure of interfaces between the tasks solved at the initial SMP development phase and their representation in the SMP final report is demonstrated in Fig. 3. [Pg.16]

The goal of this project, which was started in 2003, is to develop the means for safe transport of the submarines to their dismantlement sites to avoid accidents such as the sinking of the K-159 which sank while under tow. During the project definition phase over 28 different options have been evaluated, this has now been reduced to 4 options. [Pg.115]

Since there is no clear distinction between the research and development phase, projects quite frequently move into development while the people involved are unaware of the changed rules. This may result in neglecting essential aspects, in extra cost for the repetition of critical studies and in a considerable loss of time. [Pg.31]

The whole project development environment must be routinely backed up during development phase and archived at the end of the development to enable reconstruction of the development environment so that it facilitates subsequent maintenance activities and disaster recovery. [Pg.720]

In large-scale syntheses, the minimum amount of solvent is added at each step and the amount is adjusted at each cycle as the swollen volume of the peptidyl resin increases. These amounts are previously determined on a smaller scale during the process development phase of the project. There is also the possibility that during the process development phase, it becomes apparent that the most economical method of synthesizing large amounts of the peptide is by a combination of solution and solid-phase methodst or completely by solution chemistry.t ... [Pg.837]
