Process-specific selection

The process specific selection of the host cell proteins is an absolute requirement because the sensitivity and specificity of the assay system is determined largely by the number of proteins in the reference material. 

Pre-qualification is a process for selecting contractors for known future work. The design will have proceeded to a stage where an outline specification of the essential parameters has been developed. You know roughly what you want but not in detail. The drug SC-558 acts by a fourth mechanism, specifically inhibiting COX-2. It is a weak competitive inhibitor of COX-1 but inhibits COX-2 in a slow, time-dependent process.
