Process sector

The faster growth of e-waste in the developing than in the developed world presages continued expansion of an informal processing sector that, while on its own terms is inexpensive and efficient, remains hazard-ridden. 

The annual discharge of protein and fat with wastewater from fish processing sector in Poland is presented in Table 2. 

Christoph Schmitz is a consultant in McKinsey s Frankfurt office. He is a member of the global energy and materials practice and has worked in various fields of the process sector with a particular focus on the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. His main areas of emphasis are supply chain management, total operational excellence, and sourcing. He holds a Dipl.-Chem. and a PhD in chemistry from the University of Bayreuth. 

Closely intermeshing co-rotating twin screw extruders occupy a dominant position among extruders and are used in a wide variety of applications. They are not only used extensively in the production, compounding, and processing of plastics, but also employed in large numbers in other branches of industry, e.g., the rubber and food processing sectors. 

Examples of ways of doing this are farm tours, demonstration gardens, demonstration distilleries, open days, fantasy orchards, etc. This environmental approach should also be expressed in other areas, such as packaging, transport, choice of advertising materials and even the introduction of new products in the fruit processing sector.

It is important to note that a majority of the industries in the processing sector are unprofitable even though they consume power in excess of that prescribed world wide during the fuel and energy crisis in 1970s. In the scenario of manufacture decline, social problems and unemployment, the stable and export-oriented oil and gas industry became the much-needed backbone for the economy of Russia. Even now, the processing sector is still in deep crisis. 

This section presents selected results of the calculated scenarios, including the effects on production, exports, consumption, land and labour use and the environmental indicators and concludes by presenting the macroeconomic impacts. The presentation focuses on the results for the primary agricultural and associated processing sectors. Since the main issue addressed is die comparison of the results from applying the two different policy instruments this will be the focus of the analysis. ... 

Alkyd paints are used for protection and decoration in virtually all sectors including coatings in the steel, sheet, and metal processing sector, house and decorative paints, do-it-yourself paints, wood varnishes, wood protection agents, and automotive finishes. Alkyd resins are extremely important for corrosion protection coatings. 

Originally (inheriting the practice from the rubber industry a century ago), the plastics processing sector has purchased resins and additives separately and mixed its own compounds. However, the growing sophistication of compoimds (especially reinforced materials), together with the need for special investment in separate handling of additives and market demand for reproducible performance, have created a specialist industry sector that is devoted to the production of compounds. This has occurred mainly in TPs but the use of ready-made compounds is growing rapidly in TSs. 

The overall objective here is to establish the need for safety functions (for example, protection layers) together with associated levels of performance (risk reduction) that are needed to ensure a safe process. It is normal in the process sector to have multiple safety layers so that failure of... 

When a safety function is aiiocated to a safety instrumented function, it wiii be necessary to consider whether the appiication is in demand or in continuous mode. The majority of appiications in the process sector operate in demand mode where demands are infrequent, in such cases, Tabie 3 in iEC 61511-1 ANSi/iSA-84.00.01-2004 Part 1 (iEC 61511-1 Mod) is the appropriate measure to use. There are some appiications where demands are frequent (for exampie, greater than one per year) and it is more appropriate to consider the application as continuous mode because the probability of dangerous failure will be primarily determined by the failure rate of the SIS. In such cases. Table 4 in IEC 61511-1 ANSI/ISA-84.00.01-2004 Part 1 (IEC 61511-1 Mod) is the appropriate measure to apply. Continuous mode applications where failure would result in an immediate hazard are rare. Burner or turbine speed control may be continuous mode applications if protection systems are insufficient for all failure modes of the control system. 

The international working group that prepared lEC 61508 considered the above factors and specified the extent of fault tolerance required in lEC 61508-2. In preparing this sector-specific standard for the process sector it was considered that the requirements for fault tolerance of field devices and non PE logic solver could be simplified and the requirements in lEC 61511-1 ANSI/ISA-84.00.01-2004 Part 1 (lEC 61511-1 Mod) could be applied as an alternative. It should be noted that subsystem designs may require more component redundancy than what is stated in Tables 5 and 6 in order to satisfy availability requirements. 

Industrial process sector PE logic solvers have internally configured diagnostics. They are referred to as internal watchdog timers (IWDT) in this annex. IWDTs include software, hardware, and communication diagnostic subsystems provided by the manufacturer, within the PE logic solver.
