Process Integration concept

To realize a process integrated quality control the conception shown in fig. 2 was followed. The casting process which is influenced by process parameters like thermal economy, alloy composition or black wash will be pursued with particulary to the problematic nature adjusted sensoring systems. On basic factors orientated sensoring systems like microfocus radioscopy, and tomography will be employed and correlated with sensoring systems which can be applicated under industrial conditions. 

An important recent trend is the tendency for the two processes, CVD andPVD, to merge. For instance, CVD now makes extensive use of plasma (a physical phenomenon) and reactive PVD (evaporation or sputtering) occurs in a chemical environment. Much ofthenew equipment reflects this process integration in the concept of cluster tools which may incorporate CVD, etching, sputtering, and ion implantation in one piece of equipment. 

The concepts of chemical engineering are easily applied in meeting the challenge of process integration, particularly because many of the key process steps involve chemical reactions. 

Management systems for chemical process safety are comprehensive sets of policies, procedures, and practices designed to ensure that barriers to major incidents are in place, in use, and effective. The management systems serve to integrate process safety concepts into ongoing activities of everyone involved in operations— from the chemical process operator to the chief executive officer.

The major objectives of current research activities in this highly interesting domain of chemical engineering are to develop new concepts for process integration, to investigate their efficiency, and to make them available for technical application. The importance of this field is reflected by the increasing number of articles in journals and book contributions that have been published during the past three decades... 

Chapter 1 Introduction presents the concepts and metrics of sustainable development, as well as the framework of an integrated process design by means of two interlinked activities, process synthesis and process integration. 

Part VI Polymer properties as an integral concept. Chapter 24, on processing properties, is extended slightly. Chapter 25, on mechanical product properties, remained almost unchanged. The three subchapters of Chapter 26, on environmental product properties, are extended quite greatly. Chapter 27 on examples of end use properties remained unchanged. 

The author asserts that an isothermal plant arrangement (process integration therefore not applicable) is essential for greater thermodynamic efficiency, and hopefully for cheapness. An equilibrium diagram for such a plant is shown in Figure A.4. The plant is arranged so that exergy is supplied as electrical power and not by combustion heat, an entirely theoretical concept, and therefore a difficult development problem, for Methanex, Air Products and Ballard.
