Substitute milk products may not be equivalent to cow s milk in terms of the quantity and in some cases the quality of fat, carbohydrate, vitamins, and minerals. Fat, carbohydrate, sodium, fiber, and energy, as well as the nutrients for which no U.S. RDA has been established, were not considered by FDA in its proposed definition of nutritional equivalency. In terms of quality, coconut oil, the primary and in most instances the sole fat used in substitute as well as imitation milk products, is a more saturated fat than milk fat and lacks linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid. It should be kept in mind that, in spite of these major variations in the CO2-carbonic acid system, virtually all surface seawater is supersaturated with respect to calcite and aragonite. However, variations in the composition of surface waters can have a major influence on the depth at which deep seawater becomes undersaturated with respect to these minerals. Involutional (primary) osteoporosis is the manifestation of a metabolic bone disease in which the amount of normally mineralized bone matrix in affected patients has been reduced to a level below that of the normal population of the same age and sex. From time to time I will inject some of my views concerning usefulness and safety of mineral fibers, recognizing that it is impossible to become expert on all issues surrounding mineral fibers. In geological formations, the content of heavy minerals may vary from 0 to 100%, and there is a tendency for some heavy mineral species to occur preferentially in certain kinds of rock. In any rock the minerals may be divided into primary and secondary rock minerals according to their origin. Primary rock minerals were formed at the same time as the rock containing them, while secondary rock minerals were formed as a result of reactions taking place within the host rock at some time after its formation. Rock-forming minerals may also be classified as essential or accessory. Essential minerals are those implied in the definition of the rock name, while accessory minerals are additional to the above definition, so that their absence would not necessitate a change in the rock name.
