There are a couple of items to note about MedDRA and the preceding sample SAS code. First, the example assumes that you have already managed to read the system organ class, preferred term, and lowest-level term data tables from the MedDRA dictionary into SAS. Second, the preferred terms may map to more than one system organ class. In this case, MedDRA provides a variable at the preferred term level to indicate what the primary system organ class is. So, you may need to subset the preferred term data set in the example in order to select just the primary system organ class. [Pg.111]

The components we use are made from other components. Figure 11.3 illustrates how a larger component (a video rental system) might be assembled by assembling components for membership, reservations, and stock management. We think of this as the upper interface it is the direct and visible connecting of parts that provide well-defined services. Examples of such upper interfaces are the public operations of a class, APIs of databases, windows systems, and, of course, the primary services offered by the membership, reservations, and stock management components. [Pg.482]

The primary purpose of this Report is to present NCRP s recommendations on classification of hazardous wastes. The Report is directed at a multidisciplinary audience with different levels of technical understanding in the fields of radiation and chemical risk assessment and radioactive and chemical waste management. Anew hazardous waste classification system is proposed that differs from the existing classification systems for radioactive and hazardous chemical wastes in two fundamental respects. First, hazardous waste would be classified based on considerations of health risks to the public that arise from disposal of waste. Hazardous waste would not be classified based, for example, on its source. Second, the classification system would apply to any hazardous waste, and separate classification systems for radioactive and hazardous chemical wastes would not be retained. In the proposed system, waste would be classified based only on its properties, and the same rules would apply in classifying all hazardous wastes. [Pg.6]

It is the intent of this paper to explore the various control tactics that are being suggested in the management of bark beetles in the forest system with specific attention given to the potential impact on the predator population. Similar arguments could be extended to other bark beetle mortality agents such as the parasite community. Primary examples and control tactics discussed will be drawn from our experience with the southern pine beetle, I). frontalis, a major pest in the southeastern U.S., along with other bark beetles in North America. [Pg.26]

Process safety management is the primary requirement that drives process plants and refineries to establish quality control programs for incoming materials and spare parts. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 has defined regulations for process safety critical equipment and systems that include such requirements. Other reasons for quality control programs may be equally important, for example when failure has a significant impact on capability to make product or leads to excessive maintenance costs. [Pg.1]
