Pressed Tablets

In the case of formulation No. 1 it was not possible to press tablet cores of a biconvex form because some capping effect was observed. [Pg.16]

Of all the designer drugs, ecstasy is by far the most commonly used drug, and is sold and distributed in pressed tablets or capsules and ingested orally. Users have also been known to snort it. [Pg.130]

Pressure methods Unidirectional compaction 1. Powders compressed within die cavity into cylindrical or other simple shapes by action of punch. Tableting, powder pressing, dry pressing, hot pressing Tablet machines, powder presses. [Pg.6]

In one brand name press, tablet weight control is achieved by regulating the dosing cam based on powder bed thickness in the precompression cycle. This clever approach is possible because precompression force is kept relatively constant by means of pneumatic compensating mechanism. Under these conditions, tablet weight is directly proportional to thickness. The subsequent compression cycle can be done to constant thickness, like on any other press. [Pg.3701]

X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) is much easier in its performance but by no means as reliable particularly in case of low element contents. Here, the dried, mortared and homogenized samples can be used directly as powder, or better in this shape of pressed tablets, or even better still, as molten tablets. With this method, good detection limits are obtained for most of the quantitatively relevant elements, the access to trace metals, however, is not feasible to the same extent as in complete extraction and subsequent analysis of the extract solution. [Pg.117]

Tablets may be hard for some people to absorb, so look for soft-pressed tablets, liquid, or capsules. [Pg.75]

Clinoptilolite-containing tuff (CT) dust was modified by the catalytic polymerization of ethylene on the surface of CT particles. The compositions with 3-5wt.% of polyethylene (PE) and 97-95 wt.% of CT were obtained. The thin PE coating formed on the CT particles was permeable to the filtrating water solutions. As a result of encapsulation of the CT particles, the filter properties of this sorbent were improved. The ion-exchange characteristics of the modified CT (powder and pressed tablets) with respect to NH4 and Sr " cations were determined. It was shown that CT dust-PE compositions retained the ion-exchange properties of initial CT. [Pg.362]

The x-ray diffraction patterns of as-grown powders of poly(alkylthiophene)s are conveniently taken in transmission on thin ( 0.5 mm) pressed tablets. The pressing process is found not to introduce any anisotropy, and the degree of crystallinity is normally similar to that of the polymer films. [Pg.113]

For investigations of powders two methods have been established being effective In the first method, about 10 mg of powder are filled into the cavity between two silica plates (thickness of the layer 0.2 mm) [2, 17, 36-38] the same procedure can be used for foils or gels, in which, for example, insoluble materials may also be embedded [2]. For the second technique, sample is diluted by mixing it with potassium bromide or potassium chloride in a micromill [2, 37] (3-30 mg sample in 300 mg medium) and then pressing tablets of 5.0 mm diameter (thickness 0.20 0.01 mm pressure 1.2 t (120 MPa), i.e., 60 kg mm pressure time 120 s) as practiced in IR spectroscopy [2, 36]. It is preferable to use polyethylene or polyfluoroethylene powders (e.g., Hostaflon TF 9205,... [Pg.152]

Th2N20 is prepared by equilibration of cold-pressed tablets of 3ThN + Th02 [1 to 3] or 3Th + Th02 [3 to 6] in 1 atm N2 at temperatures of 1000 to 2000°C. Although the low formation temperatures of 1000 [5], 1200 [3], and 1300°C [6] have been reported, higher temperatures can be expected to improve the crystallinity and homogeneity in a shorter period of time. [Pg.66]

The size and form of solid samples should be optimized to get the best possible heat transfer conditions a pressed tablet is better than a powder, and a flat foil is better for undisturbed heat transfer than an irregular grain with poor thermal contact to the cmdble. [Pg.255]

The electronic conductivity of pristine polybenzimidazole is very low and practically it behaves as an insulator [73]. The first published studies on the proton conductivity of polybenzimidazoles were conducted in the early 1970s, although under poorly defined experimental conditions. In the pristine form the conductivity of poly (2,5-trimethylene benzimidazole) was recorded to 10 S cm using silver paste electrodes on a pressed tablet of the polymer [74]. Under... [Pg.204]

The two principal heat sources that have been used in thermal batteries are heat paper and heat pellets. Heat paper is a paper-like composition of zirconium and barium chromate powders supported in an inorganic fiber mat. Heat pellets are pressed tablets or pellets consisting of a mixture of iron powder and potassium perchlorate. [Pg.545]
