Dissolve 0-5 g. of hydroxylamine hydrochloride in 2 ml. of water, add 2 ml. of 10 per cent, sodium hydroxide solution and 0-2 g. of the aldehyde (or ketone). Tubes made of polyvinyl chloride plastic are reinforced on the outside with polyester-fiber glass.
