The application of Raman spectroscopy in primary manufacturing was reviewed by Fevotte [25] who put a special emphasis on crystallisation monitoring. It includes tables of typical applications in crystallisation monitoring and other transient processes, respectively. The author concludes that several open questions such as better calibration procedures, dependence on size distribution and sampling techniques need to be addressed before we will see a wider use of Raman spectroscopy in pharmaceutical manufacturing applications. Yu et al. [26] presented a broader review of crystallisation control including in-line Raman for polymorph monitoring. The authors discuss future developments needed for the respective techniques and point out the potential of Raman spectroscopy for in-line polymorph detection. [Pg.249]

Because the number of polymorphisms detected is primarily limited by the number of primers tested, it is often possible to identify more polymorphisms than are needed for a particular study. Therefore, the best... [Pg.304]

Not all instances of conformational polymorphism are as dramatic as that just described, and often different conformers of a single side chain are able to pack into different crystalline arrangements. For instance, the two polymorphs of/>-(li ,3 S)-3-thioanisoyl-l,2,2-trimethyl-cyclopentane carboxylic acid were found to be associated with different conformations of the carboxylate group [15], Torsion about a single C-N bond was shown to be the origin of the polymorphism detected for lomeridine dihydrochloride [16], Finally, relatively small differences in molecular conformation were detected for the two polymorphic and four solvated crystalline forms of spironlactone [17],... [Pg.235]

Cancer diagnostics often needs a discrimination of genomic mutations in DNA sequences or special NA structures (miRNA) which can cause various diseases including cancer. SERS technique is very promising for mutation and single nucleotide polymorphisms detection because of the possibility of spatial multiplexing at array format linked with a portable biosensor device. Mahajan and co-workers reported such SERS-based approach using Au substrates prepared by... [Pg.164]
