Polymeric foil

Preparations whose active substance is imbedded between polymeric foils, have recently obtained some importance in their technical application. Such deposit systems may be inserted into cavities of the body e.g. into the uterus or below the palpebra (119). The active substance then slowly diffuses through the foil so that its concentration and duration of activity can be regulated by the type and thickness of the membrane (120). An essential advantage of this procedure lies in the possibility to remove easily, at any time, the deposit system at the end or to interrupt the treatment. With analogous implantations this is only possible by an operative treatment. [Pg.48]

The Nitro-dur system, marketed by Key Pharmaceuticals, Inc., contains nitroglycerin in acryUc-based polymeric adhesives with a cross-linking agent for polymer stabiUty. This depot of dmg provides a continuous source of active ingredient. An impermeable backing prevents release of nitroglycerin away from the skin. The systems are individually sealed in a paper polyethylene-foil pouch (81). [Pg.230]

The finish may be a coating (paint, asphaltic, resinous, or polymeric), a membrane (coated fmt or paper, metal foil, or laminate of plastic, paper, foil or coatings), or sheet material (fabric, metal, or plastic). [Pg.1098]

The dose-rate was varied by lining the irradiation chamber of the gamma cell irradiation by lead foil of uniform thickness [17]. The dose was kept constant at 0.15 and 0.35 KGy for copolymerization of AM-AANa and AM-DAEA-HCl system, respectively. The results are shown in Figs. 2 and 3, which show that the rate of polymerization, Rp increases while the degree of polymerization (DP ) and the intrinsic viscosity [17] decrease with the dose-rate. The exponents of the dose-rate for AM-AANa system [17,54] were determined to be ... [Pg.120]

The Li-SOCl2 battery consists of a lithium-metal foil anode, a porous carbon cathode, a porous non-woven glass or polymeric separator between them, and an electrolyte containing thionyl chloride and a soluble salt, usually lithium tetrachloro-aluminate. Thionyl chloride serves as both the cathode active material and the elec-... [Pg.40]

The adhesive was developed for application to seal food containers with alumina foils and to seal glass plates. In this case, the vinyl polymerization step can be carried out by UV light radiation through the already mounted glass plates with a photoactive radical initiator to cure the viscous adhesive material. Another application of this material is the development of diffusion barrier containing protective coatings on medieval stained glasses (31). [Pg.339]

We use extrusion coating to apply thin layers of polymer to the surface of non-polymeric substrates such as cardboard or aluminum foil. Extrusion coated materials are extensively used in food packaging. Products include the coated cardboard used to make milk cartons and the coated aluminum foil used to seal dairy product tubs. The process of extrusion coating has much in common with film casting. [Pg.224]

Polymeric conducting systems were also prepared by in situ polymerization of vinyl monomers in ionic liquids [22], with a conductivity of 1 mS/cm. A conductive polymer electrolytes were also prepared by polymerization in liquid EMIm(HF)nF leading to a composite poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate)-EMIm(HF)nF. Recently, polymer electrolytes were prepared in the form of thin foils, by incorporating ionic liquids in a polymer matrix [13-15], Conductivities of polymer-IL or polymer-IL-solvent systems are collected in Table 4. [Pg.102]

There is no question that the development and commercialization of lithium ion batteries in recent years is one of the most important successes of modem electrochemistiy. Recent commercial systems for power sources show high energy density, improved rate capabilities and extended cycle life. The major components in most of the commercial Li-ion batteries are graphite electrodes, LiCo02 cathodes and electrolyte solutions based on mixtures of alkyl carbonate solvents, and LiPF6 as the salt.1 The electrodes for these batteries always have a composite structure that includes a metallic current collector (usually copper or aluminum foil/grid for the anode and cathode, respectively), the active mass comprises micrometric size particles and a polymeric binder. [Pg.216]

The laminate in which the impregnated glass cloths are sandwiched between the PTFE films is then polymerized by adhering onto a hot plate heated at 145°C for 1 min. Thereafter, the PTFE films are peeled off to get a prepreg. Eventually the prepreg is laminated on both sides with a copper foil and a PTFE film having a thickness of 0.05 mm. The laminate is then put into a mold and heat pressed in the mold frame under a press pressure of 4.1 MPa at 200°C for 15 min. [Pg.51]

Hydrophilicity of polymeric channels can also be increased by photoablation. For instance, polymeric channels (37 pm deep) were photoablated through a copper foil mask. Relative to the original polymer, the photoablated surface is rougher and has increased hydrophilicity. The EOF increases in the following order PC < PS < cellulose acetate < PET [194]. The excimer laser ablation has... [Pg.44]

Solvent resistant laminates for printed circuits were manufactured by coating of copper foil with a solution of PPO, BPA/DC, bis(4-maleimidophenyl) ether and Zn octoate in toluene the coated foil was laminated with PPO-impregnated glass fabric [47]. Similar result was achieved by the modification of PPO with polyfunctional cyanates or maleimides, liquid polybutadiene and a polymerization catalyst [48], A solvent and heat resistant composition for printed circuits consists of copoly [(2,6-dimethylphenylene)-(2,3,6-trimethylphenylene)]oxide, maleic anhydride grafted poly-1,2-butadiene, bis(4-maleimidophenyl)methane, BPA/DC and toluene. BPA/DC prepolymer may be used instead of the monomer [49]. [Pg.48]
