Plan and/or optimize the total handling of liquids in the plant (including pool water and pipe flushing) with the aim of redncing the amounts of liquid waste collected. 

Mechanical Cake Removal. This method is used in the American version of the dynamic filter described under cross-flow filtration with rotating elements, where turbine-type rotors are used to limit the cake thickness at low speeds. The Exxflow filter, introduced in the United Kingdom, is described in more detail under cross-flow filtration in porous pipes. It uses, among other means, a roUer cleaning system which periodically roUs over a curtain of flexible pipes and dislodges any cake on the inside of the pipes. The cake is then flushed out of the curtain by the internal flow. 

Valves are mounted so that the plug of the valve is flush with the tank to avoid a pocket of unpasteurized milk, and a leak detector valve permits drainage of the milk trapped in the plug of the valve. Ad. covers, piping, and tubing must drain away from the pasteurizer. 

Specifications for Piezometer Taps The size of a static opening should be small compared with the diameter of the pipe and yet large compared with the scale of surface irregularities. For rehable results, it is essential that (1) the surface in which the hole is made be substantially smooth and parallel to the flow for some distance on either side of the opening, and (2) the opening be flush with the surface and possess no burr or other irregularity around its edge.

Beeause of the high flow veloeities obtained during the flush, the previous proeedure will allow the fastest possible eleanup of the oil system. The objeetive is to earry the debris into the reservoir and filters. The turbulenee from the high flows, along with the thermal and meehanieal exereising of the piping, are the main faetors neeessary for a fast and effeetive system eleanup.

There is one word that should be repeated over and over cleanliness. As each piping spool is brought in for connections, it should be checked for cleanliness. Any dirt removed prior to connection to the system will not have to be removed in the flushing procedure. 

Process systems handling polymers and resins (e.g., butyl rubber or ethylene-propylene diene monomer rubbers) are often subject to plugging at dead-end locations such as PR valve inlets. In extreme cases, complete blockage of inlet piping and valve nozzle can result. This problem can be eliminated by the application of a flush-seated PR valve, in which dead-end areas are eliminated by placing the valve disc flush with the vessel wall, in the flow pattern of the contents.

Pipe-type electrostatic precipitators are used to collect liquid aerosols (e.g., mists and fogs). They are also used in applications which require water flushing of collection electrodes. The diameter of precipitator pipes is typically in the range of 15 0 cm, and the length is in the range of 3-6 m. The number of pipes depends on the total gas flow. The gas-flow rates in pipe-type electro static precipitators is normally much lower than in duct-type precipitators. 

Simple strainers remove gross materials. These should not normally occur in public supply, but strainers are sometimes fitted to protect sensitive equipment or processes against breaks in the main, etc. The commonest form contains a stainless-steel wedge wire screen and is piped with a bypass so that the screen element can be isolated and removed for cleaning when necessary. If the load on the filter makes this kind of cleaning burdensome a self-flushing filter can be used. These can incorporate strainer elements down to 50 pm. 

A flush strip element is available for use in pipelines and obviates the necessity for withdrawal of probes prior to use of inspection vehicles. This element design more closely represents the inner wall of a pipe or pipeline. 

To stop the process the circuit through the electromagnet (6) is broken at (18), so that air rushes into the injector and the glycerine in the pipe and in rotameter (3) runs back to (2).
