Chemical finishing is an unportant area in textile processing and requires a diligent fabric testing program to maxunize the benefits of the chemical treatments. Many chemical finishes have an optimum level of application, too much chemical can be wasteful, too little can compromise the desired fabric properties. The development of the appropriate performance test methods is just as important to the commercial success of a chemical finish as the development of the finish itself. A test method is appropriate if it provides useful, reproducible results that correlate with actual real world performance. The best test methods utilize simple, inexpensive equipment with easy to follow procedures and yield precise, accurate data. [Pg.113]

Traditionally, lubricant property (performance) test methods were used to determine in-service fluid condition. A variety of industrial organizations have standardized a number of physical test methods for this purpose. Utilizing lubricant property tests for condition monitoring introduces several physical and economic problems ... [Pg.460]

There are several types of validation for analytical methods. AOAC is the leading organization that conducts methods validation under its auspices. AOAC conducts the following types of method validation performance tested method (PTM), peer verified method (PVM), and official methods of analysis (OMA). [Pg.695]

In 1993, two external interlaboratory studies were conducted using commercially available peanutkits. In North America, three kits (BIOKITS, Ridascreen, and Veratox) were evaluated in three laboratories and the data submitted to the AOAC Research Institute (RI), and Performance Tested Method stams was awarded to all three kits by May of that year (Park et al, 2005). In Europe, Poms et al. (2005) evaluated the performance of five test kits (BIOKITS, ELISA Systems, Prolisa, Ridascreen, and Veratox) to detect and quantify peanut residues in biscuit and dark chocolate at four concentrations (0, 2, 5, and 10 mg peanut/kg) using 31 laboratories in 14 countries. [Pg.399]

Requirements specified in this way are deemed-to-satisfy rules. Such rules cannot be used to quantify the performance of the structure in general, specific effects of additional measures (for instance increasing the cover to the steel), or the consequences of sub-standard practice (for example using a higher w/c). In this respect it is important to note that EN 206 also allows the use of alternative performance-related design methods with respect to durability that consider in a quantitative way each relevant deterioration mechanism, the service life of the element or structure, and the criteria that define the end of the service life. Such methods should draw a picture of the characteristics that the concrete must possess to protect the reinforcement for the service life requested from a predictive model of the corrosion attack. These refined methods (as opposed to standard methods) may be based on long-term experience with local practices in local environments, on data from an established performance test method for the relevant mechanism, or on the use of proven predictive models. [Pg.176]

Secondly, the imperfect protective clothing standardization system in our country, and the western countries to produce all kinds of protective clothing, protective clothing performance test method standard is also very complete, high standardization degree, has formed a relatively perfect standardization system. EN standards system such as the European Union, the United States ANSI standard system, Japanese JIS standards system, German DIN standard system and the British BSI standards system. The most perfect is the international organization for standardization system of ISO standards. [Pg.551]

During the preparation of hazardous drugs, use a ventilated cabinet to reduce the potential for occupational exposure. Performance test methods and criteria for BSCs may be found in Primary Containment for Biohazards Selection, Installation and Use of Biological Safety Cabinets, second edition, CDC/NIH, 2000. A current field certification label should be prominently displayed on the ventilated cabinet per NSF/ANSI49. [Pg.366]
