The areas of application differ from the industries which apply them the most important ones are the pharmaceuticals, food, fine chemicals, basic chemicals, pulp and paper, agriculture, medicine, energy production, and mining industries (Figure 1.1). 

Alumtnum phosphide, hke aluminum nitride, reacts with moisture but in this case the gaseous product is phosphine, PH3, a very toxic gas. For this reason, AlP is used as a fumigant to control insects in stored products such as raw agricultural products, animal feeds, processed foods (for example, flour and sugar), tobacco, wood, paper, leather, hair, and feathers. It is also used for control of rodents such as rats, mice, squirrels, and gophers in and around mills, food processing plants, warehouses and silos, and in rail cars, ships, and shipping containers.

SPI as a co-binder in paper coating binder formulations remains a vital patt of the paper industry. Today, soy protein coatings are used in a variety of coated papet and paperboard applications. There should be steady growth in soy protein used in this application, provided SPI remains price-competitive with synthetic latex binders, which is likely, due to projected high petroleum prices relative to agricultural products. 

During the past twenty five years acid rain, formally referred to as acid deposition, has been the focus of much political debate and scholarly research. Acid deposition occurs when important precursor pollutants, such as sulfur dioxide (SOj) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), chemically mix with water vapor and oxidants in the atmosphere and fall back to earth in wet or dry form. Wet deposition comes in the form of dew, fog, snow or rain, while dry deposition occurs as either gasses or dry particulates. Research has shown that acid deposition adversely affects freshwater lakes and streams, coastal habitats, agricultural production, forests, soils, human health and building materials. Fossil-fuel power plants, refineries, and paper and pulp mills are the major sources of SOj emissions, while automobiles and other vehicles are the primary emitters of NO. ... 

This paper reports some preliminary results on a mixed logit random utility analysis of conjoint data from consumers preferences for agricultural products. The data were collected via a telematic sample representative of Italian households. The survey instrument was implemented via a computer supported system. A multivariate normal full correlation structure is imposed in the mixed logit estimation and the implications of such a taste structure are examined.
