Packaging composition information

Of the overall migrate from plastics, rubber, paper, coatings, etc., we know the starting substances that are used to make the materials because these normally appear in compositional lists of monomers, additives, solvents and so forth. But relatively little detailed compositional information is known beyond this. Packaging materials may contain many substances that are not used intentionally and do not appear in lists of permitted ingredients. [Pg.10]

Many of the food contact surfaces in metal foodstuff packaging such as coatings, sealants and gasket materials are bought in formulated specifically for the particular application. Detailed compositional information is rarely available for reasons of confidentiality, so the packaging manufacturer must ensure that the material supplier is aware of the intended application and... [Pg.265]

The efficacy of a cosmetic product can be defined as the capacity to provide the desired effect. The safety of cosmetic products is of great importance because these products are used without medical supervision, on sensitive areas of the body and/or for long periods of time. The safety relates to composition, packaging, and information and responsibility... [Pg.805]

Hospital sterilizer loads vary in composition, thus the challenge presented to the test organism can vary considerably, depending on the type and contents of packages in which they are placed. The benefits of a standardized test-pack constmction and test protocol are obvious, and such recommendation is made by AAMI for steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers (11). More recentiy in European (CEN) and International (ISO) standards, biological indicators are considered as additional information supplemental to the measurement of physical parameters. Indeed, for sterilization using moist heat (steam), the biological indicator information is not considered to be relevant. [Pg.406]

Calculate the amounts of the major components of the food (carbohydrate, fat, protein, including alcohol) ingested, from knowledge of the composition of the meal (obtained from information provided on the package of the food item or from food composition tables). [Pg.20]

To establish safety and to ensure consistency, the complete chemical composition should be provided for every material used in the manufacture of a packaging component. Test results from appropriate qualification and characterization tests should be provided. Adequate information regarding the tests, methods, acceptance criteria, reference standards, and validation information should be also provided. [Pg.21]

Often the most difficult step follows the identification of the odor substance finding the cause of the presence of this substance in the packaging in order to avoid future quality problems. To do this it is advantageous to have as much information as possible on the chemical composition, treatment, and complete history of the package. With this information, it is sometimes possible to discover a reaction pathway for the offending substance or substances. [Pg.411]

Label containers and packages with composition and information on ingredients. [Pg.196]

Producers, retailers and consumers are often interested in reliable information on the quality of the food. Information on composition is often printed on the outside of the package as well as a use by or best before date. However, this does not provide information about whether the food has been contaminated... [Pg.371]
