Characterization tests

Most simple materia characterization tests are perfomned with a known load or stress. The resulting displacement or strain is then measured. The engineering constants are generally the slope of a stress-strain curve (e.g., E = o/e) or the slope of a strain-strain curve (e.g., v = -ey/ej5 for Ox = a and all other stresses are zero). Thus, the components of the compliance (Sy) matrix are determined more directly than those of the stiffness (Cy) matrix. For an orthotropic material, the compliance matrix components in terms of the engineering constants are... [Pg.64]

The approach taken here is to employ standard materials characterization tests to measure the materials properties of the granulated product. With this information, the mechanism of attrition, i.e., breakage versus erosion, is determined. The rate of attrition can then be related, semi-empirically, to material properties of the formulation and the operating variables of the process, such as bed depth and fluidizing velocity. [Pg.398]

However, there are a number of problems associated with this approach. It may be difficult to produce material of sufficient homogeneity owing to problems in mixing the analyte with the sample matrix. It may also be difficult to obtain a suitable blank or sufficiently well characterized test material. In addition, a synthetic material may well behave differently from a natural material. The analyte may be in a different chemical form or less strongly bound to the sample matrix. For these reasons, the formulation approach is not appropriate for many sample types. [Pg.185]

Key operating parameters that may change (or be optimized) throughout a product s development and approval cycle are dissolution sampling time points and dissolution limits or specifications by which the dissolution results should be evaluated. The results generated from the dissolution test need to be evaluated and interpreted based on the intended purpose of the test. If the test is used for batch-to-batch control, the results should be evaluated in regard to the established limits or specification value. If the test is being utilized as a characterization test (i.e., biopharmaceutical evaluations, formulation development studies, etc.) the results are usually evaluated by profile comparisons. [Pg.363]

Examples of characterization testing of CHO MCB include sterility, mycoplasma, identity, retrovirus, adventitious agents, and bovine and porcine virus. [Pg.343]

Substrate Characterization. Test coupons and panels of 7075-T6 aluminum, an alloy used extensively for aircraft structures, were degreased In a commercial alkaline cleaning solution and rinsed In distilled, deionized water. The samples were then subjected to either a standard Forest Products Laboratories (FPL) treatment ( 0 or to a sulfuric acid anodization (SAA) process (10% H2SO4, v/v 15V 20 min), two methods used for surface preparation of aircraft structural components. The metal surfaces were examined by scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) In the SEM mode and by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). [Pg.236]

Suitable tests for demonstrating the consistency of the production and purification are performed. The tests include, especially, characterization tests, in-process controls and final-product tests, for example. [Pg.518]

A feasibility test is conducted to ensure that constituents that would inhibit the Aqua-Fix absorption capabilities do not exist in the water. This test, including characterization, testing, and a report is 275.00 per contaminant. Two hundred dollars of the cost can be credited toward an order of 1000.00 or more if placed within 60 days of the issuance of the report (D14690R, p. 4). [Pg.337]

The final, purified bulk product is thoroughly characterized and compared to reference standards established by the manufacturer for new molecular entities or available from the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) or the World Health Organization s National Institute of Biological Standards and Control. Characterization tests of proteins may include biologic potency assays, chromatographic assays, gel... [Pg.78]

The final transverse chemical shrinkage strain is and ach is the degree of cure when chemical shrinkage is complete. The parameters c, and c2 are empirical constants obtained from chemical shrinkage characterization tests. In most cases occh can be approximated as the degree of cure at gelation. [Pg.251]

By following this multistep procedure, the kinetics were evaluated on a wide range of data (both conditions and feedstock) not used in the parameter estimation. The start-of-cycle kinetics were extended to other catalysts and catalyst states by defining an appropriate catalyst state vector (a = aD, al5 a , ac), which is different from 1 at the start of cycle. A catalyst characterization test was developed to estimate parameters for new catalysts. [Pg.230]

To establish safety and to ensure consistency, the complete chemical composition should be provided for every material used in the manufacture of a packaging component. Test results from appropriate qualification and characterization tests should be provided. Adequate information regarding the tests, methods, acceptance criteria, reference standards, and validation information should be also provided. [Pg.21]

Other routine tests made on commercial systems include storage (shelf life) tests, assessment under conditions of environmental and mechanical stress, etc. The behaviour of cells under conditions of continuous short circuit and after complete discharge must also be characterized. Testing procedures for particular cell systems are outlined in subsequent chapters. [Pg.61]
