Connection points

Lines that connect points of equal risk around the facility ( isorisk lines)... [Pg.78]

Connect point A with a ruler to the known value of Is on the appropriate scale and read the final result F on the intersection point of a ruler with the II scale. [Pg.279]

The human brain is comprised of many millions of interconnected units, known individually as biological neurons. Each neuron consists of a cell to which is attached several dendrites (inputs) and a single axon (output). The axon connects to many other neurons via connection points called synapses. A synapse produces a chemical reaction in response to an input. The biological neuron fires if the sum of the synaptic reactions is sufficiently large. The brain is a complex network of sensory and motor neurons that provide a human being with the capacity to remember, think, learn and reason. [Pg.347]

When the airflow meets a surface whose temperature is lower than the dewpoint, water vapor from the air condenses on the surface of the cooling coil. If all air comes into contact with the cold surface, the state of the air after the process will be at point 3. Some air always escapes the cold surface, and therefore the state of air after contact with the coil is a mixture of saturated air (3) and escaped air (1). The mixing point (2) lies on the line connecting points 1 and 3, as shown in Example 8. The nearer point 2 is to point 3, the more effective is the cooling coil. [Pg.94]

Static pressure recovery method. The diameters are selected in such a way that the same static pressure is available before every connection. The duct reduction is selected in such a way that the gain of static pressure is in balance with the friction losses up to the next connection point. This method may result in fewer control devices at connection points or outlets. Low velocities and large diameters at the end of the system may be the result of this design approach. [Pg.786]

Isotherm A line in a flow system or on a graph connecting points of equal temperature, or a mathematical or graphical relationship between two variables at constant temperature. Or a display using lines on a drawing to show constant-temperature contour lines, as from thermal imaging with infrared techniques. [Pg.1453]

Isovel A line in a flow system or on a graph connecting points with constant velocity. [Pg.1453]

A box or fitting must be installed at each conductor sphce connection point, receptacle, switch, junction point, or pull point for the connection of conduit system. In Division 1 areas only explosion-proof boxes or fittings are allowed. General purpose gasketed cover type fittings are allowed in Division 2 areas. [Pg.535]

SpartanView displays molecular- orbitals as colored surfaces. An orbital surface connects points in space where the selected orbital has a particular- numerical magnitude, and different colors are used to indicate surfaces conesponding to negative and positive values of the orbital. [Pg.1271]

Connect Point A, with a ruler, to the known value of 0 on the primary scale. Extend this line up to the intersecting point with the Y scale. (Read the Y value as an intermediate result). [Pg.84]

Connect Point A to the known value of B on the appropriate scale. [Pg.86]

For the Rankine cycle, the area enclosed by the line segments connecting points 1, 2, 3, 4, 1 on Figure 2-36 represents the net heat transferred into the system per unit mass, because... [Pg.223]

The circulation pump should be a centrifugal type with a plastic or PVC impellor, or cast iron with adequate corrosion inhibitor. The acid tank, hoses, and other equipment should be connected to and from the boiler using suitable connection points. This usually is the bottom BD connection (with the valve removed) and the open manhole as the top point. [Pg.653]

The top hose connection point is usually the level controller. [Pg.654]

CIRCLE = OLD DRUG WITH DOTTED LINE. I = J CONNECTS POINTS. symboll c = black line = 1 v = dot i = j symbol2 c = black line = 2 v = circle i = j ... [Pg.212]

Of the approximately 3000 tons mined annually, only a tiny portion ends up in technical applications. Circuit boards and plug connection points are protected against corrosion by gold. This is where gold is really valuable. [Pg.75]

The cell and the circuit diagram are shown in Fig. 1. The cell consists of a test electrode, El, reference electrode, R, and counter electrode, E2. The ac potential between the test electrode Ej and the reference electrode R is measured by connecting them to a sensitive ac millivoltmeter through the contact key (by connecting point a to point b). The rectified voltage between Ej and R is measured across a dc microvoltmeter (sensitivity, 1 tV/smallest... [Pg.191]

Transient spectra were constructed by recording transients at desired wavelengths, all of which were normalized by the probe energy, and having the computer assemble spectra by connected points on each transient at a common delay time following the photolysis pulse. Kinetic information was obtained by monitoring transients at the desired wavelengths as a function of reactant gas pressure and/or cell temperature. Unless otherwise stated all experiments were carried out at 21 1° C. [Pg.88]

Fig. 9. (a) H, 15N] HSQC NMR spectra of 15N-labeled 7 and 2 mol equiv of 5 -GMP after lmin and 30 min of irradiation (, 195Pt satellites) (b) time dependent decrease in concentration of 7 and formation of 7rG and 7rG2 (lines drawn merely to connect points) (c) quantification of in vitro DNA repair synthesis using an extract prepared from the repair-proficient HeLa cell line. Cisplatin was taken as 100%. Adapted from Ref. (35). [Pg.18]

Frequently the cloud boundary defined by a fixed concentration is required. The line connecting points of equal concentration around the cloud boundary is called an isopleth. For a specified concentration (C) the isopleths at ground level are determined by dividing the equation for the centerline concentration (Equation 5-40) by the equation for the general ground-level concentration (Equation 5-39). This equation is solved directly for y ... [Pg.191]

Considering enolate 5, where X, Y, and Z stand for three connective points for cyclic enolate formation, the formation can occur between any two of such points, leading to three possible oxygen enolates endo-cyclic 6, 7, and exo-cyclic enolate 8. In such cases, the resident asymmetric center ( ) may be positioned on any connective atom in the substrate. [Pg.73]

If two gas mixtures R and S are combined, the resulting mixture composition lies on a line connecting points R and S on the flammability diagram. The location of the final mixture on the straight line depends on the relative moles in the mixtures combined If mixture S has more moles, the final mixture point will lie closer to point S. This is identical to the lever rule used for phase diagrams. [Pg.9]

For existing equipment a vibration measure survey should be undertaken or examination of piping suspected of being under stress. Critical examination of connection points should be made where the induced piping vibration stress is the greatest. For new designs a stress analysis can be prepared on the pipework by specialized consultants. [Pg.157]

A control panel, which serves as the connection point between various system components. The control panel communicates information back and forth between the sensor and the host computer, and controls access to the asset by engaging or disengaging the system lock based on internal logic and information from the host computer. [Pg.173]
