Organisations functioning

One means of gathering data for monitor indicators is patient safety culture questionnaires. We have developed a patient safety culture questionnaire, TUKU, that measures employees perceptions of the organisational functions depicted in Table 9.4 as well as employees psychological states, such as sense of control and worry about patient safety (Reiman et al. 2013). In one hospital, the results of the questionnaire were compared with the ratio of patient safety incidents at the hospital s 40 units 16 months after the safety culture questionnaire was administered. The results, which must be treated with caution due to the small sample size, indicated that perceptions of work process management , work conditions management . [Pg.194]

To allow objectivity of the findings, ElA s are usually carried out by independent specialists or organisations. It will involve not only scientific experts, but also require consultation with official and representative bodies such as the government ministries for the environment, fisheries, food, agriculture, and local water authorities. In activities which may impact on local population (terminals, refineries, access roads, land developments) local representatives of the inhabitants may be consulted, and the public affairs function... [Pg.70]

In order to function effectively, the organisational structure should make the required flow of information for field development and management as easy as possible. For example, in trying to co-ordinate daily operations, information is required on... [Pg.347]

Snapshot from a dynamic density functional simulation of the self-organisation of the block copolymer PL64 (containing 30 propylene oxide rmd 26 ethylene oxide units (EO)i3(PO)3o(EO)i3) in 70% aqueous solution. The simulation was carried out during 6250 time steps on a 64 x 64 x 64 grid (courtesy of B.A.C. van Vlimmeren and J.G.E.M. Praaije, Groningen). Fig. 6. Maintenance departments provide support to other functions of manufactuting management. Some of the corporate staff activities that are of concern to the plant maintenance organisation are iadustrial relations, finance, material control, services, and manufactuting engineering. [Pg.445]

The plethora of professional societies now linked to MSE can be divided into three categories - old metallurgical societies, either unregenerate or converted to broader concerns specialised societies, concerned with other particular categories of materials or functions and societies devoted to MSE from the time of their foundation. Beyond this, there are some federations, umbrella organisations that link a number of societies. [Pg.507]

The Bureau of Chemistry is re-organised with regulatory functions now residing in the Food, Drug and Insecticide Administration. [Pg.33]

Abstract In most of the world s watercourses, dramatic modifications have occurred as a consequence of intensive use by human societies. The simplification of the channel network and the alteration of water fluxes have an impact upon the capacity of fluvial systems to recover from disturbances, because of their irreversible consequences. However, human impacts on river hydrology, such as those that derive from regulating their flow or by affecting their channel geomorphology, affect the functional organisation of streams, as well as the ecosystem services that derive from them, and lead to the simplification and impoverishment of these ecosystems. [Pg.17]

You may delegate functions to people within your organisation, either by specific areas within the workplace or by topic. [Pg.4]

In between the above two extremes are the monoamines (1-lOnmol/g) which are preformed and stored in terminals but at much lower concentrations than the amino acids and when released are removed primarily by reuptake for re-use, or intraneuronal metabolism to inactive metabolites. Thus the appropriate synaptic organisation, biochemistry and receptor pharmacology of the NTs also varies in keeping with their function. It is often assumed, incorrectly, that the NTs found in the highest concentration are the most potent. In fact the opposite is true. Those like the amino acids while having high affinity for their receptors have low potency while the peptides found at much lower concentration have high potency but low affinity. [Pg.25]
