Operator Guidelines

Operators must not drive with unstable loads. Use banding or nylon binders on loads to prevent them from falling. Do not use pedestrians to balance or hold onto loads. [Pg.166]

Keep pedestrians away from battery and fiiel charging areas. Only authorized eiiqiloyees are allowed to perform these operations. [Pg.166]

Operators must never jump off moving equipment. Wait for the equipment to come to a complete stop before getting off. Pedestrians have been struck by unoccupied moving equipment. [Pg.166]

Operators should take advantage of lift trucks alarms and mirrors. However, looking in the direction of travel is very important operators should make eye contact with pedestrians before moving the truck. [Pg.166]

Where blind spots or areas exist that require special attention, use spotters as guides. Do not move the lift truck unless cleared by a spotter and the spotter is physically clear of the load. [Pg.166]

Dowtherm Heat-Transfer Fluids. Dow Chemical Co. manufactures a family of heat-transfer fluids to meet differing appHcations. Dow Chemical also markets the Syltherm fluids produced by Dow-Coming Corp. Design and operating guidelines are offered in many of the company pubHcations describing the Dowtherm fluids. [Pg.504]

Operating Guidelines The test protocol should be developed in consultation with the principal operators and supervisor. Their cooperation and understanding are required for the test to be successful. Once the protocol is approved, analysts should distribute an approved one-page summary of the test protocol to the operators. This should include a concise statement of me purpose of the test, the duration of the test, the operating conditions, and the measurements to be made. The supervisor for the unit should initial the test protocol. Attached to this statement shoiild be the tag sheet that will be used to record measurements. [Pg.2558]

The acceptable operating envelope for centrifugal compressors is very limited. Therefore, care should be taken to minimize any variation in suction supply, back-pressure caused by changes in demand, and frequency of unloading. The operating guidelines provided in the compressor vendor s O M manual should be followed to prevent abnormal operating behavior or premature wear or failure of the system. [Pg.558]

Variations in viscosity of both the incoming and finished products have a dramatic effect on mixer performance. Standard operating procedures should include specific operating guidelines for the range of variation that is acceptable for each application. The recommended range should include adjustments for temperature, flow rates, mixing speeds, and other factors that directly or indirectly affect viscosity. [Pg.571]

There is a need for far greater control of the process under farm conditions, for better information on the choice of plant, its management and for simple instrumentation or tests to indicate to users how the plant is operating. Guidelines and information on the most economic method of utilising biogas on individual farms is required. [Pg.415]

Having defined the process products and emission (Chapters 3 and 4), pollution prevention is the operational guideline for refinery operators, process engineers, process chemists, and for that matter, anyone who handles petroleum and/or petroleum products. It is in this area that environmental analysis plays a major role (EPA, 2004). [Pg.305]

The Navy should develop operational guidelines for the effective decontamination of its ships, bases, ports, airfields, and logistical chains—that is, make specific the joint doctrine expected as a product of the new Joint CBD Program requirements office in Office of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff/Director for Force Structure, Resources, and Assessment (OJCS/J8). Future Navy doctrine should discuss acceptable risks and evolve operational guidelines as to levels of decontamination and the levels of personnel protection that should be employed in order to minimize restoration time after contamination and maximize operational viability. [Pg.94]
