Obtaining data impaction

Armor Plate Impact TestfShell Impact Test). This test was developed during WW II to provide an additional sensitivity test for HE s commonly used, and to supplement data obtained by impact and rifle-bullet tests. [Pg.704]

The analysis of the obtained data shows that the use of urea and vinyl acryl solutions fails to provide sufficiently strong granules (11 to 30% of the granules were disintegrated). For this reason, impact loads were applied to granules obtained by the use of water, polyethylene oxide, and several original preparations of agglomerating liquid. [Pg.159]

Commercial GC/IR/MS instruments are available from Mattson Instruments (using a matrix isolation GC/IR interface) and from Hewlett Packard (using a highly optimized light pipe GC/IR design). Each uses a Hewlett Packard Mass Selective Detector to obtain electron impact MS data. The instrument in our laboratory is a prototype version of the Mattson instrument, built in collaboration with Mattson Instruments. [Pg.62]

The review is not intended to provide a discussion of chemical methodologies design nor an exhaustive list of all the studies that have been conducted to date, but it aims to examine methodologies to obtain data that may be used to estimate PTMs risks, mainly in term of bioavailability to plants and humans. It does not include any consideration on the impact of soil PTMs contamination on groundwaters and soil microbes. [Pg.180]

Blends with Nitrile Rubbers. The data in Table III show the importance of using a terpolymer rubber to obtain good impact strength in a blend with styrene-acrylonitrile-DBPF terpolymer resin. Blend No. 1 gives the properties of a conventional nitrile rubber blend type ABS. Blends 2-4, involving terpolymer resins with the same amount of the rubber used in Blend 1, have a much lower impact strength. [Pg.556]

To investigate impact sensitivity using a conventional heavy spring mortar as the MKm is not heavy enough to obtain data when the propellant explodes. [Pg.318]

In the broad sets of data for soils in different climates and geochemical impacts, e.g., by tillage, the focus mostly rests with elements which are essential to plants which limits the chances to obtain data on fractionation or information to which extent retention of elements is simply due to complex formation in soil. As an exception, element distributions down to. 0 m from litter level were investigated at Bomhoved (Schleswig-Holstein, northernmost part of FRG) test... [Pg.11]

The procedure is generally applicable but in step 1 and 4 some specific parameters need to be estimated for the specific natural event considered. Applying specific sub-models in the fourth step it is possible to achieve the quantification of the industrial risk indices, but these need data on the vulnerabdity of each equipment item impacted by the natural event. A fiirther problem is to obtain data on the characterization of the lightning event, necessary for the first step of the developed procedure. [Pg.929]

The US DOE had a major effort to understand the many variables affecting the performance of a bubble column reactor. Dudukovic and Toseland [75] outlined the cooperative study by Air Products and Chemicals (APC), Ohio State University (OSU), Sandia National Laboratory (SNL), and Washington University in St. Louis (WU). The efforts of this group have developed valuable unique experimental techniques for the measurement of gas holdup, velocity, and eddy diffusivities in bubble columns. They have obtained data that allows improved insight in churn-turbulent flow and have assessed the impact of various effects (internals, solid concentration, high gas velocity, pressure, etc.). General ideal flow pattern-based models do not reflect bubble column reality to date the models are based on a combination where some parameters are evaluated from first principles and some from the database. [Pg.283]

The process, which leads to the liberation of a target electron, following the impact of a charged particle on an atom or a molecule, is one of the most important and fundamental phenomena studied in the field of atomic collisions. The interest in the ionization process goes back many decades, and it has been studied intensively since then. The largest volume of experimental data has been obtained for impact of electrons and protons, but a great deal of information has also been collected for impact of heavier ions. Recently, the electron data have been surveyed by for example Tawara et al. [4.1] and the proton data by Rudd et al. [4.2]. Since then, it has become possible to measure ionization cross sections for antiproton and positron impact. Some of the experimental measurements of positron-impact ionization were reviewed by Charlton and Laricchia [2.12]. From comparisons between data obtained with equivelocity p", p , e", and e , a substantial amount of new information on the ionization process has become available. In this section, we will review the new results obtained for the single-ionization cross section,... [Pg.131]
