Nominal power output

Subtract the stray loss to give the motor output for nominal full load. The amount of stray loss is normally taken as 0.5% of the nominal power output of the machine. The stray losses at other values of loads are obtained from ... [Pg.256]

For a given wind power installed, the sizing of the electrolyzer is not trivial. In the case of "stand-alone" systems, a one-to-one approach is often proposed, with the electrolyzer power input being equal to the nominal power output of the wind turbine. In this way, the electrolyzer should be able to retrieve all the wind power in the absence of load. In grid-connected systems, the same approach leads to the choice of an electrolyzer with a power supply equal to the power output of the wind turbine minus a "base load." However, the specific capital cost of the electrolyzer being almost equal to the cost of a wind turbine, it is important to take into account the capacity factor of the electrolyzer that will always be smaller than that of the wind turbine. [Pg.173]

This cost structure could very well be valid for PEMFC systems, although for high-temperature stacks, insulation can be an important factor, especially for low nominal power outputs (US DOE, 2002). [Pg.66]

Oilon test furnace nominal power output 8 MW, test run output about 4 MW... [Pg.1469]

Different grades of pyrolysis oil were burned at 4 MW nominal power output in a test furnace of Oilon Oy s R D Centre. Operation, dimensions, adjustment parameters, and characteristics of pyrolysis oils were tested and compared, and ertussions in different cases were measured. [Pg.1479]

The deep UV absorption characteristics of these catalysts requires deep UV lamp sources for optimum cure. All of the cure results presented herein were therefore obtained with an RPC Model 1202 QC Lab UV Processor equipped with 2 Hanovla medium pressure mercury vapor ultraviolet sources each capable of Independent operation at 100, 200 or 300 watt/lnch nominal power output and a conveyor which operates between 10 and 500 fpm. Actual power flux can therefore be widely varied per pass through the Processor as a function of total lamp output and conveyor speed. We have found that the microwave-fired Fusion Systems H lamp is also well-suited for these iodonlum/epoxysiloxane systems. [Pg.385]

Stable operation of the demonstration reactor BN-600 in Russia with a nominal power output of 600MW(e) for 20 years and an average load factor of 72%, successful operation of the prototype reactors BN-350 in Kazakshstan and Phenix in France as well as the reliable operation of MOX fuel at high bumup (20% witti an irradiation dose in excess of 160 displacement per atom (dpa) in the cladding) in PFR (UK) and Phenix, are milestone in the implementation of LMFR technology. [Pg.1]

BN-600 with nominal power output of 600 MW(e) for 20 years (Fig. 2.1) with an average load factor of 70%, as well as construction of the largest fast reactor SPX in France, are milestones in the implementation of LMFR technology. [Pg.5]

The failure monitoring was conducted within the period of 41 hours and 27 minutes. That led to estab-hshment of the failure rate (6.95 failures per day) and the mean repair time (1.81 minutes). The failure rate is high, yet this high number is also due to the frequent initiation of the fuel cell system, frequent load with the nominal power output, occasional overloads and fluctuating voltage within the distribution network at the inverter connection point. The values of failure rate and the mean repair time shall be specified using... [Pg.1587]

Men et al. reported the operation of a small-scale bread-board methanol fuel processor composed of electrically heated reactors [15]. A methanol steam reformer, two-stage preferential oxidation reactors and a catalytic afterburner were switched in series. A fuel cell equipped with a reformate-tolerant membrane, which had a 20 W nominal power output, was connected to the fuel processor and operated for about 100 h. [Pg.937]

The reference turbine plant design of the BWR 90 is similar to that of modem, existing BWR plants. The nominal power output of the turbine unit will be 720-850 MWe depending on the site conditions, in particular with respect to circulating water temperature. [Pg.46]

PIUS is a new reactor concept based on well established LWR technology and infrastructure. It is a passive and simplified, reconfigured PWR incorporating also some BWR features, with a nominal power output of600 MWe. The modified arrangement reflects the goals of achieving increased simplicity and safety, in particular with respect to protection of the reactor core in possible accident scenarios. [Pg.233]

During the start-up of a fuel cell system, the batteries provide all the power needs only for a few seconds. Afterward, the fuel cell stack begins supplying some power, and the output power from the batteries reduces correspondingly. With time, the stack supplies more and more power and the batteries supply less and less power, and finally, all the power is supplied by the stack. The duration of the load-sharing process by the stack and the battery depends on the discharging capacity of the batteries, the output voltage setup of the DC-DC converter, and how fast the stack can reach its nominal power output. For an air-cooled stack, the stack can reach the nominal power output in about 1 minute. For a liquid-cooled stack, the stack can reach the nominal power output in less than 5-10 minutes. But this does not necessarily mean that the load will be fully powered by an air-cooled stack within 1 minute, because the... [Pg.52]

The designed nominal power output of the magnetron was 750 W, and the actual measured output was 400 W. The turntable and the motor were connected by a shaft which was dynamically sealed. The structure and dimension of the window for the microwaves to pass was careftilly designed in order to avoid any electrical discharge due to lower pressure. The door was sealed by a... [Pg.317]

Taking the efficiency (ri) into consideration the nominal power output of the appliance amounts to... [Pg.389]

The equation for nominal power output is to be fitted with the mean voltage instead of the nominal voltage, as the voltage is load dependent (see Figure 16.1). [Pg.391]

The mean discharge current can be approximated by the nominal power output this system is only satisfactory when the current load is steady. Under more-or-less discontinuous load practical tests with samples of the new design are necessary. Through these generated load profiles conclusions to the final battery design are made. [Pg.393]

The nominal operating point (cell voltage and corresponding current density) is the operating point at nominal power output, and it may be... [Pg.149]

The system efficiency at 25% nominal power output at 300 kPa would drop to 0.3, because of high parasitic losses, as opposed to 0.485 that would have been if the flow rate were kept proportional to current. [Pg.284]

A variety of stationary fuel cell systems are being developed. Design options of stationary fuel cell power systems with respect to application, grid connection, nominal power output, load following, choice of fuel, installation, and cogeneration capabilities are discussed next. [Pg.357]

A stationary fuel cell power system may be designed to operate at constant/nominal power output all the time. Such a system is either sized to cover only the base load or it is grid interconnected and thus allowed to export excess power back to the grid. [Pg.359]

Ppc = fuel cell system nominal power output (kW)... [Pg.381]

The capacity of the electrolyzer is determined by allowed "recharge" time, which may be shorter, equal to, or longer than the "discharge" time, depending on the application. Consequently, the electrolyzer nominal power input could be larger or smaller than the fuel cell nominal power output. [Pg.387]
