According to the conception of the development of the system of spectra of additive properties stated by I.G. Per kov the use of spectra of second order, represented by AS arrays, measured concerning two axes the length of a wave and water phase pH in monophase, pseudomonophase (micellar solutions) and twophase systems is of great interest. [Pg.421]

It is noteworthy that a clear enhancement of selectivity for the linear hydro-formylation product is observed only with cdpp (Table 5.2-1, entry e). With all other ligands, the n/iso ratios are in the 2 to 4 range. While this is in accordance with known results in the case of PPI13 (entry a) and dppe (entry c) (in comparison to monophasic hydroformylation [69]) and also with reported results in the case of Natppts (entry b in comparison to the biphasic hydroformylation of 1-pentene in [BMIM][PF(3] [46]), it is more remarkable for the bidentate metallocene ligand dppf... [Pg.236]

From these results, the Institut Fran ais du Petrole (IFF) has developed a biphasic version of its established monophasic Dimersol process , which is offered for licensing under the name Difasol process [98]. The Difasol process uses slightly acidic chloroaluminate ionic liquids with small amounts of allcylaluminiums as the solvent for the catalytic nickel center. In comparison to the established Dimersol process , the new biphasic ionic liquid process drastically reduces the consumption of Ni-cata-lyst and allcylaluminiums. Additional advantages arise from the good performance obtained with highly diluted feedstodcs and the significantly improved dimer selectivity of the Difasol process (for more detailed information see Section 5.3). [Pg.246]

The authors correlate the observed catalytic activity with the solubility of the 1,3-butadiene feedstock in the ionic liquid, which was found to be twice as high in the tetrafluoroborate ionic liquid as in the corresponding hexafluorophosphate system. It is noteworthy that the same reaction in a monophasic systems with toluene as the solvent was found to be significantly less active (TOF = 240 h ... [Pg.252]

Estrogens and progestins (combination oral contraceptives) are used as oral contraceptives. There are three types of estrogen and progestin combination oral contraceptives monophasic, biphasic, and triphasic. The monophasic oral contraceptives provide a fixed dose of estrogen and progestin throughout the cycle The biphasic and triphasic oral contraceptives deliver hormones similar to the levels naturally produced by the body (Table 52-1). [Pg.547]

Recently, Brich and coworkers (40) reported the synthesis of lactide/glycolide polymers branched with different polyols. Polyvinyl-alcohol and dextran acetate were used to afford polymers exhibiting degradation profiles significantly different from that of linear poly-lactides. The biphasic release profile often observed with the linear polyesters was smoothened somewhat to a monophasic profile. Further, the overall degradation rate is accelerated. It was speculated that these polymers can potentially afford more uniform drug release kinetics. This potential has not yet been fully demonstrated. [Pg.7]

In perovskite-type catalysts the formation of the final phase is completed already at 973 K. XRD and skeletal FTIR/FTFIR data for LalCol, LalMnl and LalFel calcined at 973 K evidence that only LalFel-973 is actually monophasic and consists of a perovskite-type phase with orthorombic structure. A perovskite type phase with hexagonal-rombohedral structure represents the main phase of LalCol-973, but traces of C03O4 and La2C05 are also present. In the case of LalMnl-973 two phases have been detected both with perovskite-type structure, one orthorombic and the other rombohedral. The calculated cell parameters of the dominant perovskite-type phase are reported in Table 1 for the three samples. The results compare well with those reported in the literature [JCPDS 37-1493, 32-484, 25-1060] which refer to similar samples prepared via solid state reartion. All the perovskite-type samples are markedly sintered... [Pg.476]

A similar polymer-stabilized colloidal system is described by James and coworkers [66]. Rhodium colloids are obtained by reducing RhCls, 3H2O with ethanol in the presence of PVP. The monophasic hydrogenation of various substrates such as benzyl acetone and 4-propylphenol and benzene derivatives was performed under mild conditions (25 °C and 1 bar H2). The nanoparticles are poorly characterized and benzyl acetone is reduced with 50 TTO in 43 h. [Pg.267]

As mentioned in the introductory part of this section, quantum dots exhibit quite complex non-radiative relaxation dynamics. The non-radiative decay is not reproduced by a single exponential function, in contrast to triplet states of fluorescent organic molecules that exhibit monophasic exponential decay. In order to quantitatively analyze fluorescence correlation signals of quantum dots including such complex non-radiative decay, we adopted a fluorescence autocorrelation function including the decay component of a stretched exponential as represented by Eq. (8.11). [Pg.148]

Surfactants employed for w/o-ME formation, listed in Table 1, are more lipophilic than those employed in aqueous systems, e.g., for micelles or oil-in-water emulsions, having a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) value of around 8-11 [4-40]. The most commonly employed surfactant for w/o-ME formation is Aerosol-OT, or AOT [sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate], containing an anionic sulfonate headgroup and two hydrocarbon tails. Common cationic surfactants, such as cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) and trioctylmethyl ammonium bromide (TOMAC), have also fulfilled this purpose however, cosurfactants (e.g., fatty alcohols, such as 1-butanol or 1-octanol) must be added for a monophasic w/o-ME (Winsor IV) system to occur. Nonionic and mixed ionic-nonionic surfactant systems have received a great deal of attention recently because they are more biocompatible and they promote less inactivation of biomolecules compared to ionic surfactants. Surfactants with two or more hydrophobic tail groups of different lengths frequently form w/o-MEs more readily than one-tailed surfactants without the requirement of cosurfactant, perhaps because of their wedge-shaped molecular structure [17,41]. [Pg.472]

The development of the two-liquid phase biocatalytic processes requires the knowledge of different phenomena and problems that are not necessarily encountered in monophase aqueous media [40]. [Pg.555]

To eliminate the need to recover the product by distillation, researchers are now looking at thermomorphic solvent mixtures. A thermomorphic system is characterized by solvent pairs that reversibly change from being biphasic to monophasic as a function of temperature. Many solvent pairs exhibit varying miscibility as a function of temperature. For example, methanol/cyclohexane and n-butanol/water are immiscible at ambient temperature, but have consolute temperatures (temperatures at which they become miscible) of 125°C and 49°C, respectively (3). [Pg.244]

In summary, what we have found is that the combination of a thermomorphic system and a surfactant is very effective for the hydroformylation of 1-octene and 1-dodecene. We believe that although a 90 10 ethanol/water and heptane system becomes miscible at 70°C, the additional water in a 50 50 ethanol/water and heptane system raises the miscibility temperature to >100°C. When a surfactant is added, the miscibility temperature is lowered and the biphasic solution becomes monophasic below the reaction temperature, resulting in good reaction rates. In addition, the presence of the surfactant also enhances the selectivity compared to the completely homogeneous system from 1.8 to 5.3 L/B... [Pg.248]
