Transducers modulating

Sometimes the transducers utilize an auxiliary source of energy as in some electrical device with electrical energy as input and output forms, but the output signal is determined by an auxiliary form such as thermal or radiation energy. The transducers need to be specified by input, output and auxiliary forms and in such a case, they are known as self-modulating transducers. When no auxiliary form of energy is involved one has selfregulating transducers. [Pg.929]

Some phosphors are self-generating and others are stimulable phosphors involving modulating transducers to delay the output. Some examples of lanthanides in luminescence transducers are fisted in Table 12.16. [Pg.929]

The ARC is controlled by its own hardwired control module. Most spectrometers are equipped with electromechanical Mossbauer velocity transducers of the loudspeaker type. A unified model for mechanotransduction allows comparison of mechanoreceptors from many organisms and cell types. Mechanoreceptors nearly universally use ion channels for transducing sensory information. Mechanoreceptors are either neurons or are neuroepithelial cells with synapses, and the currency of the nervous system is the membrane potential. Opening an ion channel allows a cell quickly and extensively to modulate its membrane potential, and hence neurotransmitter release, the final step in mechanoreception at the cellular level. [Pg.833]
