Matter composition

Utility Patents. Utility patents are granted to individuals only who have invented or discovered any new and useful method, process, machine, manufacture, or matter composition. These patents must be useful to society (have utility). A utility patent has a total time limit for exclusive use by the inventor of 17 years. 

The inherent lability of alkene- and hydroxyalkanesulfonates, variations in isomer composition, and the presence of the disulfonates are features which complicate AOS analyses. Improper sample handling, such as exposure to high temperatures, can also alter active matter composition. Consequently, analytical procedures have been developed that minimize potential sources of error.

On the other hand, two bottom sediment samples were collected from the Willamette River (Benton County) and Yaquina Bay (Newport), Oregon. These samples represent both fresh water and estuarine environments with slightly different degrees of organic matter compositions.

The measurements required for the present receptor models Include particulate matter composition, size and variability for both source and receptor. Obtaining these data requires attention to field study design and data management, source characterization, and analytical methods.

In addition to being the enzymatic agents of biotic decomposition of SOM, microbial cell by-products are increasingly recognized as major building blocks of SOM. As a result, the microbial community, controlled by climate, vegetation, and soil environment, is a key mediator of organic matter composition and decomposition.
