Maintenance point

The Society s purpose has always been to educate and provide information on hazard communication. Professional development courses were first offered by SCHC in 1990 with a single half-day course. Today, the society offerings have grown to over 25 professional development courses including basic, advanced, and in-depth multiday courses. Continuing education/maintenance points can be obtained for SCHC courses.

During design evaluation, a key requirement is evaluation of the system from a maintenance point of view. For example, if the LIMS utilizes analytical equipment interfaces which must be isolated for maintenance, the LIMS must be designed to allow the maintenance activities without there being any effect on the operation of the rest of the system. 

Serviceability Caterpillar designed the 797 to reduce service time thus ensuring maximtun availability. Routine maintenance points, such as fluid fill and check points, are close to ground level. Easily accessed connectors allow technicians to download data and to calibrate machine functions, thus extending maintenance intervals which further increases availability. The 797 is also designed to make major components accessible, which effectively reduces removal, installation, and in-truck maintenance time for all drivetrain components. 

An example is represented by the node System prognosis . Potentially, the node can represent the remaining life second by second but in this application the node has only four states. One of them is the state OK that means that the chiller operates in a correct way. The other three are some time intervals that represent a discretization of the remaining useful life before the failure occurrence. The interval choice has been made from the maintenance point of view considering the restriction of the test bed unit. 

We would like to improve the prognostic performance of the model passing from the actual system prognosis to a component prognosis pattern. This will probably require an increasing of model complexity but, from the maintenance point of view, it will return a more useful tool. 

If he/she has a professional certification, is it valid, or has it lapsed for lack of maintenance points— for example, training, presentations, seminar attendance, activity participation in a local... 

Multicyclone installations which must exhibit a relatively low cut size (such as that shown in the example above) are not normally suitable in processes that can tolerate only a very limited amount of pressure drop across the separator, such as 100 mm of water column, or less. If this is not a constraint, however, the fact that they operate dry and with no moving parts endows them with some distinct advantages over other separator types, such as wet scrubbers or bag houses. This is especially true if selling or using the product in dry form is advantageous to operations or if, for personnel protection or from a maintenance point of view, one does not wish to handle and maintain bag filters. 

Main steamline section and weld of the same Unit 4 f600 MW3 as above the weld connects 2 steamline sections of different materials (stainless steel and low-alloy steel) through a transition material section, ahead of the Y-piece where branching of the turbine inlet lines takes place (255 mm internal diameter, 44.5 mm thickness). Ultrasonic inspection pointed out potential integrity problems in the weld. The requirement was again that AE could support safe operation of the weld until the next incoming planned maintenance shutdown. 

The use of solvents having boiling-points below or much above the range indicated by the above examples is inadvisable, for the maintenance of a steady circulation of the boiling liquid may prove difficult. 

The maintenance of a constant pressure in a system during distillation under diminished pressure is of great practical importance if trustworthy boiling points are desired. Devices which maintain a constant pressure in a system that is higher than the minimum pressure that the pump will give are termed manostats. A simple manostat, due to M. S. Newman, is illustrated in Fig. II, 23, 4. 

A new countercurrent continuous centrifugal extractor developed in the former USSR (214) has the feature that mechanical seals are replaced by Hquid seals with the result that operation and maintenance are simplified the mechanical seals are an operating weak point in most centrifugal extractors. The operating units range between 400 and 1200 mm in diameter, and a capacity of 70 m /h has been reported in service. The extractors have been appHed in coke-oven refining (see Coal conversion processes), erythromycin production, lube oil refining, etc. 

The goal of filtration in the modem municipal treatment plant is a maximum of 0.1 ntu (nephelometric turbidity unit), which ensures a sparkling, clear water (8). Freedom from disease organisms is associated with freedom from turbidity, and complete freedom from taste and odor requites no less than such clarity. The National Interim Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NIPDWR) requite that the maximum contaminant level for turbidity at the point of entry into the distribution system be 1.0 ntu unless it can be shown that levels up to 5 ntu do not interfere with disinfection, interfere with the maintenance of a chlorine residual in the distribution system, nor interfere with bacteriological analyses. 

The freezing point of the coolant should be monitored for coolants in all types of service. Additionally, maintenance of the corrosion inhibitor levels is requited of the heavy-duty service coolants and the stationary engine coolants. Because corrosion inhibitors and combinations of corrosion inhibitors work most effectively at given concentrations and specific ratios to the other inhibitors, appropriate concentrations must be maintained to maximize corrosion protection. Many manufacturers of coolants for stationary engines, and manufacturers of SCAs, provide an analytical service to monitor the effective inhibitor concentrations in the system periodically. Recommendations can then be made for proper maintenance and inhibitor replenishment. 

Selecting the Sampling Point The selection of the sampling point is based primarily on supplying the analyzer with a sample whose composition or physical properties are pertinent to the control function to be performed. Other considerations include selecting locations that provide representative homogeneous samples with minimum transport delay, locations that cohect a minimum of contaminating material, and locations that are accessible for test and maintenance procedures. 

Valve Trim Various alloys are available for valve parts such as seats, disks, and stems which must retain smooth finish For successful operation. The problem in seat materials is fivefold (1) resistance to corrosion by the fluid handled and to oxidation at high temperatures, (2) resistance to erosion by suspended solids in the fluid, (3) prevention of galling (seizure at point of contact) by differences in material or hardness or Both, (4) maintenance of high strength at high temperature, and (5) avoidance of distortion. 

Identification of the equipment. Many accidents have occurred because maintenance workers opened up the wrong equipment. Equipment which is under repair should be numbered or labeled unambiguously. Temporaiy labels should be used if there are no permanent ones. Pointing out the correc t equipment is not sufficient. The pump you repaired last week is leaking again is a recipe for an accident.
