Materials cost per ampere meter. In those applications where the critical current density and strain characteristics make the magnet technically feasible, we must consider the cost. We focus here on the superconducting materials cost and the total refrigeration cost including the cryostat and capitalized refrigerant costs. 

The basic condition of the Standard application - the availability of stable coupled probabilistic or the multiple probabilistic relations between then controlled quality indexes and magnetic characteristics of steel. All the probabilistic estimates, used in the Standard, are applied at confidence level not less than 0,95. General requirements to the means of control and procedure of its performance are also stipulated. Engineers of standard development endeavoured take into consideration the existed practice of technical control performance and test at the enterprises that is why the preparation of object control for the performance of nondestructive test can be done during the process of ordinary acceptance test. It is suggested that every enterprise is operated in correspondence with direct and non-destructive tests, obtained exactly at it, for detailed process chart and definite product type, however the tests have long since been performed after development of the Standard displayed that process gives way to unification. 

At present, all over the world the X-ray television systems, instruments based on magnetic heat and eddy-current methods are used to check the air-passengers luggage and to check staff when entering the hazardous objects. In banks, security services and etc. the optic-television and endoscopic technical vision systems are widely used.

Mag netic Tapes. Chromium dioxide, Cr02, is used as a ferromagnetic material in high fidelity magnetic tapes (qv). Chromium dioxide has several technical advantages over the magnetic iron oxides generally used (58,246). 

The physical and chemical properties of sufficiently small particles, in particular their magnetism, must depend on their size, whence the idea of using NMR to study them. Because of the theoretical and technical difficulties associated with the NMR detection of metals, and specially since only a few can be detected, NMR work has been mainly devoted to the indirect study of metallic properties, by the intenuediary of easily detected chemisorbed phases ( F1, C) or of physically adsorbed probes ( Xe). We will develop the cases of Pt and Pd. 

Quite separate and distinct from this kind of science was the large body of research, both experimental and theoretical, which can be denoted by the term technical magnetism. Indeed, I think it is fair to say that no other major branch of materials science evinces so deep a split between its fundamental and technical branches. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that the quantum- and statistical-mechanical aspects have become so ethereal that they are of no real concern even to sophisticated materials scientists, while most fundamental physicists (Neel is an exception) have little interest in the many technical issues their response is like Pauli s.

Despite the rhetoric surrounding the subject of magnetic water treatment, some useful information can be gleaned from technical papers and supplier s literature (extracts of which are reported below), which may help the reader form an informed opinion on the benefits or otherwise of this form of pretreatment. 

Whether electrostatic technology is superior to magnetic device technology is debatable. What is of interest is that, in a 1998 marketing and technical support documentation pack from a major electrostatic unit manufacturer, most of the information supplied related primarily to cooling water applications rather than boilers. The boiler data, such as there was, concerned only smaller, simple systems (e.g., HW boilers and steam ovens).
