The tool path generation step is thus the second step in the design-to-part process flow. The input for this step is a CAD file, while the output of this step in the process flow is the machine-independent tool path data (called CLDATA-file or Cutter Location DATA-file). [Pg.515]

Similar to other rapid prototyping techniques, ACR s EFF process begins with a 3D drawing (AutoCAD,. DXF, etc...) of the component to be fabricated. The file is imported into ACR proprietary software and sliced into the individual layers and fill patterns which will be utilized to build the part. The fill pattern in each successive layer ultimately becomes an extrusion path for the EFF machine to follow while extruding the chosen material in the shape of the component being fabricated. [Pg.320]

The advantages of LOM lie in no chemical changes and minimal heating, so shrinkage and stress-induced deformation is very small. Separate compilation is the ability to develop a program in several independent pieces. Each piece is stored in its own file in the computer, and each can be edited and worked on separately. Each source file is independently translated (compiled) into a machine language file, which is called an object file. After the individual parts have been written and compiled, they are combined to form a complete program in a process called linking. [Pg.27]

Machines, processes, people, and whole situations are stored in the brain and can be recalled at will, like files from the hard disc of a computer. This cuts down enormously on the amount of information about any scene which an individual needs to take in in order to perceive and understand it. But where the real world differs from the expectation, problems occur.
