Logic meeting

This does not mean that research should not be conducted in the synthesis of liquid fuels. This type of research should be conducted on a rational basis rather than, as in the early 1920 s and late 1940 s, on a basis of fear that petroleum supplies are running out. The efficiency of current synthesis operations is low—in the range of 40 to 60%. These efficiencies can be improved and, while this is being accomplished, it is reasonable to predict that petroleum prospecting and production will become more costly. Consequently there is a logical meeting point in the future, indistinct at the moment, where synthesis operations may logically be utilized. When this situation develops, natural gas supplies will probably also be limited and coal, oil shale, and tar sands will constitute the basic raw materials. 

Here is but a partial list of the questions to be asked so that unestimated scope does not enlarge the project beyond its estimated accuracy and interfere with its profitability. At some point in preliminary design, a project logic meeting is in order where the sole focus is uncovering potential flaws in the project s logic. A blend of those most knowledgeable about the project and seasoned evaluators less immediately involved with the project can best perform this effort.

Planning is defined as the process of analysing each job so as to determine the nature of the job and the results desired specify the logical sequence of the job and apply humanpower and estimates for each sequential step Hst predeterminable material, tools, and special equipment and estimate the total cost to meet the required results. 

It is also seen that, at very low velocities, where u E, the first term tends to zero, thus meeting the logical requirement that there is no multipath dispersion at zero mobile phase velocity. Giddings also introduced a coupling term that accounted for an increase in the effective diffusion of the solute between the particles. The increased diffusion has already been discussed and it was suggested that a form of microscopic turbulence induced rapid solute transfer in the interparticulate spaces. 

Most oil companies offer a planned lubrication maintenance (PLM) service that will meet these requirements with the minimum of effort on the part of the customer. These schemes provide logical routing for the lubrication operative, balanced workloads and clear instructions to those responsible for specific tasks associated with lubrication and fault-reporting facilities. Many schemes are now designed for computer operation, which also accommodate plant and grade changes, operation costs and manpower planning. It is essential that any such scheme should be adaptable to individual requirements. 

Notwithstanding the formal classification given in Fig. 1.5 there is no fundamental difference between qualitative and quantitative analysis. In each case a specific signal is generated which may be evaluated to meet any component of the following logical sequence ... 

When the washing machines with conventional controls are optimized further, more and more decisions have to be left to the user, even though the consumer is not in the situation to check whether or not these decisions are right. The users are only able to evaluate whether the wash result meets with their demands or not, they cannot prove how the same result could have been reached with a reduced use of raw materials. To avoid such a problem, AEG have moved on to the third phase of the development of washing techniques. With the help of the concepts of FUZZY LOGIC, a washing machine has been invented that adapts its wash processes to the demands of the laundry in order to offer the most in easy operation and ecology. 

The Excel logical AND and IF functions are used to automatically highlight the solvents that meet these targets.

In contrast with all the heterolytic disconnections considered so far, which have been called "logical" in the sense that they meet all the requirements already mentioned (see Heading 3.5), we will cal "illogical disconnections" those disconnections which, although they do not fulfil some of these requirements, are still useful since they introduce an element of flexibility which is highly desirable in designing complex organic syntheses. 

The synthetic applications of sigmatropic rearrangements to the synthesis of dissonant molecules (mainly 1,6-D) were extensively studied by Evans [22]. Although such a methodology meets the first two requirements of "logical disconnections", it does not meet the third one since it lacks simplicity. 

At this point, a growth spurt is likely. The firm now has in place twin logics. One is concerned with the business itself and the other with how products and services can be brought to customers. The original mix will likely be altered incrementally to meet changing needs, but the essence of the idea behind the business and delivery logics will remain intact. 

The disciplines of engineering and quality control have long recognized the principles of root cause analysis. Some process safety tools for root cause analysis have been borrowed from these disciplines. For example, fault tree analysis was developed as an engineering tool, but its logic tree structure has been adapted to meet process safety requirements. 

After the tree is developed, and before moving on to the recommendations and deliberations, the team should ask, Are there any other causes that anyone had in mind at the beginning of this meeting that are not included in the tree If additional causes are identified, the team adds them to the tree if there is logic to support them. Some team members may have specific concerns that the logic tree has not adequately resolved. This is the point at which remaining issues are surfaced and addressed.
