Loaders

After the allotted pressing/heating time, the pressure is released and the press moves to the open position. By this time, the loader is again ready and as each veneer assembly is moved into its respective opening, the pressed panels are pushed out into the unloader on the opposite side of the press. As the press begins the next cycle, the unloader moves to deposit the pressload of panels into a stack. 

The mats are moved along the line to the press loader. When the loader is filled and the press opens to remove the load of freshly pressed boards, the loader pushes the new boards into the unloader and deposits the load of mats on the press platens. The press closes as quickly as possible to the desired panel thickness. More pressure, as much as 4.8—6.9 MPa (700—1000 psi) is required to press high density dry-process hardboard, because the dry fiber exhibits much more resistance to compression and densification than wet fiber. Press temperatures are also higher, in the range of 220—246°C. No screens are used in the dry-process, but the moisture in the mats requires a breathe cycle during pressing to avoid blowing the boards apart at the end of the cycle. Because no screens are used, the products are called smooth-two-sides (S-2-S), in contrast to the wet-process boards, which have a screen pattern embossed into the back side and are known as smooth-one-side (S-l-S). 

Flake Mica. Flake mica is mined from weathered and hard rock pegmatites, granodiorite, and schist and gneiss by conventional open-pit methods. In soft, residual material, dozers, shovels, scrapers, and front-end loaders are used to mine the ore. Often kaolin, quartz, and feldspar are recovered along with the mica (see also Clays Silicon compounds). 

Sylvinite is removed from the ponds with scraper-loaders and hauled to a central pit. The salts are then transported to the refinery in a slurry line. KCl is separated from the NaCl by flotation. The flotation process is standard throughout the industry and is the same process used to separate KCl from impurities in a camaUite decomposition process explained later. An amine collector is used as one of the reagents.

Crushed Stone and Aggregate In-pit crushing is increasingly being used to reduce the rock to a size that can be handled by a conveyor system. In quarries with a long, steep haul, conveyors may be more economic than trucks. The primaiy crusher is located near the quariy face, where it can be suppRed by shovels, front-end loaders or trucks. The crusher may be fully mobile or semimobile. It can be of any type listed below. The choices depend on individual quariy economics, and are described by Faiilkner [Quairy Management and Products, 7 6), 159-168 (1980)]. 

Mobile equipment is often preferred to fixed types. Front-end loaders, scrapers, and bulldozers are used with increasing frequency, especially on projects of short duration or when capital investment must be limited. Front-end loaders are especially advantageous because of their ability to carry material as well as to plow or bulldoze it.

Because of the railroad-car shortage that has persisted for many years, boxcars are often used for bulk materials. Lined with suitable materials to prevent contamination and with special bulkheads at each door, these cars are acceptable substitutes for covered hopper cars even though unloading is more difficult. Vacuum conveying wands are used to pick up the material, as are front-end-loader-type vehicles. 

Open storage pits for unprocessed wastes, storage bins and silos for processed wastes transfer equipment including front-end loaders, metal and rubber belt conveyors, vibratory conveyors with unprocessed wastes, pneumatic conveyors, and screw conveyors with processed wastes... 

Over the last seventeen year s the Analytical center at our Institute amassed the actual material on the application of XRF method to the quantitative determination of some major (Mg, Al, P, S, Cl, K, Ti, Mn, Fe) and trace (V, Cr, Co, Ni, Zn, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Ba, La, Ce, Pb, Th, U) element contents [1, 2]. This paper presents the specific features of developed techniques for the determination of 25 element contents in different types of rocks using new Biaiker Pioneer automated spectrometer connected to Intel Pentium IV. The special features of X-ray fluorescence analysis application to the determination of analyzed elements in various types of rocks are presented. The softwai e of this new X-ray spectrometer allows to choose optimal calibration equations and the coefficients for accounting for line overlaps by Equant program and to make a mathematic processing of the calibration ai ray of CRMs measured by the Loader program.
