The sequeneer is configured as a scanning interface. It contains two counters, X,Y, for the x and y location in the scanning area. Synchronously with the scanning action, the sequencer counts through x and y. Synchronisation is achieved by the sean eloek pulses, frame clock, line clock, and pixel clock. The sequencer can work either in an active mode, i.e. control a scanner, or in a passive mode, i.e. be eontrolled from a free-running scanner. 

A second requirement is that the scan clocks (i.e. a frame clock, a line clock, and a pixel clock) are available from the scan controller of the microscope. This is rarely a problem in modem scanning microscopes, which usually make the scan clocks available through an external connector. 

Most manufacturing equipment should be made of stainless steel. The liming tanks, however, can be either concrete or wood (qv). Properly lined iron tanks are often used for the washing and acidification, ie, souring, operations. Most gelatin plants achieve efficient processes by operating around the clock. The product is tested in batches and again as blends to confirm conformance to customer specifications. 

A pipelined floating-point multiply unit might accomplish a floating-point multiply by performing four independent suboperations, labeled a, b, c, and d, on the operands. The suboperations can be envisioned as the four workers on a four-person assembly line. The floating-point multiply pipeline could accept a new set of operands every clock cycle. The pipeline occupancy of this code fragment would look like... 

Therefore, where a time clock is incorporated it is recommended that the crown valve(s) be closed at the end of each working day and only opened after the boiler has reached working pressure the next time it is required. This operation can be automated by the use of motorized or similar valves. These valves may be fitted to each steam, supply line from a manifold adjacent to the boilers and, provided adequate safeguards are incorporated to protect the boilers, the on-line boiler(s) may be left open to the manifold. Alternatively, each boiler may have its own automatic motorized start-up valve. Figure 23.12 illustrates a valve suitable for either system. 

In static imbalance, the only force involved is weight. For example, assume that a rotor is perfectly balanced and, therefore, will not vibrate regardless of the speed of rotation. Also, assume that this rotor is placed on frictionless rollers or knife edges. If a weight is applied on the rim at the center of gravity line between two ends, the weighted portion immediately rolls to the 6 o clock position due to the gravitational force. 

Von Neumann was able to construct a self-reproducing UTM embedded within a 29-state/5-cell neighborhood two-dimensional cellular automaton, composed of several tens of thousands of cells. It was, to say the least, an enormously complex machine . Its set of 29 states consist largely of various logical building blocks (AND and OR gates, for example), several types of transmission lines, data encoders and recorders, clocks, etc. Von Neumann was unfortunately unable to finish the proof that his machine was a UTM before his death, but the proof was later completed and published by Arthur Burks [vonN66]. 

The decentralised procedure can be used in cases where the product has never been authorised in any of the Member States, and the applicant wishes to obtain a license in a number of states simultaneously. The applicant must submit applications with the complete dossier to the Competent Authorities of each of the Member States where authorisation is desired. A single Member State should be chosen as the reference state to undertake the scientific assessment ofthe complete dossier, while the other states are designated as concerned states. The review process has many parallels vhth the centralised procedure, in that similar time lines exist, the reference State plays the role ofthe rapporteur, and the concerned States replace the CHMP. Once all States have validated that the dossiers are complete, the reference State is allowed 70 days to review the dossier and prepare a preliminary assessment report, which is circulated to the concerned Member States and the applicant. Comments from the concerned Member States and applicant responses are collected so that by day 120 the reference State may issue a draft assessment report together vhth draft SPC, label and leaflet texts. The clock may be stopped until requested responses from the applicant are received. The application then enters the second step in the assessment process, during which all the concerned Member States consider the... 

In both instances Bos employed a Digital Equipment Corporation PDP 11 computer on-line with a Radiometer polarographic stand with drop-life timer, a three-electrode system (DME, reference and Hg pool), two A/D and three D/A converters, together with a DEC writer and a recorder. For the "computer polarograph he used a Radiometer P04 polarograph and an external clock, and the computer had to perform the following functions ... 

The price to pay for getting the higher intermediate frequency in such a convenient way would be the less clock-jitter tolerance, so that the apparent resolution of the resonance line can be degraded compared with that obtained in the conventional detection scheme. For this reason, we demonstrated the high-resolution liquid-state NMR experiment, in which the resonance line width was on the order of Hz. Dedicated TCSPC electronics is used in all practical TCSPC-FLIM implementations [21, 22]. There are several issues that should be noted. First of all, the lifetime acquisition has to be synchronized with the scanning of the confocal or multiphoton microscope. To this end, the pixel clock and often the line and frame synchronization signals of the scanning microscope are used.

The reaction of bornyl and isobornyl bromides with the nucleophile (Scheme 18) is another case where the amount of inversion is small and the rate constant close to that observed with an aromatic anion radical of the same standard potential (Daasbjerg et al., 1989) it can therefore be rationalized along the same lines. Cyclizable radical-probe experiments carried out with the same nucleophile and 6-bromo-6-methyl-1-heptene, a radical clock presumably slower than the preceding one, showed no cyclized coupling product. At one time, women painted clock and watch dials with luminous radium paint that was a mixture of radium salts and zinc sulfide. They would place the small brushes between their lips and tongue to make the bristles more pointed, in order to paint fine lines with the radium paint. Over the years, they developed cancers that resulted in badly eaten-away and disfigured lips and jaws. Once the danger was known, luminous radium paint was banned for this use. Today, promethium (Pm-147), with a half-life of 2.4 years, is used for this purpose.
