Limited recovers

The validation of cycle limits recovers two different but complementary approaches vertical validation and horizontal validation. Vertical validation, the most important approach, consists of varying the shelf temperature around its target values. The chamber pressure may also be varied if the pressure level is independent of shelf temperature, such as in the case of calibrated leaks. [Pg.388]

At the development planning stage, a reservoir mode/will have been constructed and used to determine the optimum method of recovering the hydrocarbons from the reservoir. The criteria for the optimum solution will most likely have been based on profitability and safety. Polypropylene. Polypropylene (PP) is used ia packagiag appHcations as films and ia rigid containers. Battery cases could be considered another packagiag appHcation. Selectivity. Solvent selectivity is intimately linked to the purity of the recovered extract, and obtaining a purer extract can reduce the number and cost of subsequent separation and purification operations. In aqueous extractions pH gives only limited control over selectivity greater control can be exercised using organic solvents. Use of mixed solvents, for example short-chain alcohols admixed with water to give a wide range of compositions, can be beneficial in this respect (6). [Pg.88]

Another use is in various extraction and absorption processes for the purification of acetylene or butadiene and for separation of aHphatic hydrocarbons, which have limited solubiHty in DMF, from aromatic hydrocarbons. DMF has also been used to recover CO2 from flue gases. Because of the high solubiHty of SO2 iu DMF, this method can even be used for exhaust streams from processes using high sulfur fuels. Reverberator Furnace. Using a reverberatory furnace, a fine particle feed can be used, the antimony content can be controlled, and batch operations can be carried out when the supply of scrap material is limited. However, the antimony-rich slags formed must be reduced in a blast furnace to recover the contained antimony and lead. For treating battery scrap, the reverberatory furnace serves as a large melting faciUty where the metallic components are hquefted and the oxides and sulfate in the filler material are concurrently reduced to lead metal and the antimony is oxidized. The furnace products are antimony-rich (5 to 9%) slag and low antimony (less than 1%) lead. [Pg.49]

Seawater. The world s oceans contain ca 4 X 10 t of uranium (32). Because the uranium concentration is very low, approximately 3.34 ppm, vast amounts of water would be required to recover significant amount of uranium metal, ie, 10 m of seawater for each metdc ton of U. Significant engineering development and associated environmental concerns have limited the development of an economic means of uranium extraction from seawater (32) (see Ocean RAWMATORiALs). [Pg.188]

The effluent from the reactor is a slurry of terephthaUc acid because it dissolves to a limited extent in almost all solvents, including the acetic acid—water solvent used here. This slurry passes through a surge vessel that operates at a lower pressure than the reactor. More terephthaUc acid crystallizes and the slurry is then ready to be processed at close to atmospheric conditions. The terephthaUc acid crystals are recovered by filtration, washed, dried, and conveyed to storage, from which they are in turn fed to the purification step. [Pg.488]

Ammonia Synthesis and Recovery. The purified synthesis gas consists of hydrogen and nitrogen in about 3 1 molar ratio, having residual inerts (CH Ar, sometimes He). The fresh make-up gas is mixed with the loop recycle and compressed to synthesis pressures. AH modern synthesis loops recycle the unreacted gases because of equiUbrium limitations to attain high overall conversions. The loop configurations differ in terms of the pressure used and the point at which ammonia is recovered. [Pg.350]
