Leather fragrances

Leather Fragrances of this group can always be recognized by their warm, leathery tobacco notes. [Pg.129]

Men s Fragrances. Earlier ia the twentieth century, men s fragrances were expected to have a masculine direction, such as tobacco, leather, fougere, or citms, even if only in name. This is no longer tme, however since the 1970s, men s perfumes have become less conservative and have allowed much more creative use of rich woody, ambery, and green notes. [Pg.74]

The intense, for the Siberian beaver leathery, odor of castoreum is caused largely by phenolic compounds (e.g., 4-alkylphenols and catechol derivatives [256]), which beavers take in with their food and excrete into their abdominal pouch. Castoreum was used mainly in fine fragrances for its characteristic, long-lasting odor, particularly for delicate leather nuances.
