Inspection aims

The on-site version of AMDIS is a 16-bit Windows application running under OS2 operating system of the Dolch PC. This version of AMDIS was specially designed by NIST (National Institutes of Standards and Technology) for OPCW on-site analysis use. Its role in the postprocessing of analysis data is equivalent to the role of the blinded mode software in regard to the general control of the instrument and the acquisition of the data restrict the information on the identity of chemicals present in the sample to chemicals that are only relevant to the inspection aim. [Pg.54]

Within FP-5 attention will also be devoted to improve the inspection performance of ultrasonic inspection aimed at detecting and sizing of possibly present cracks in structural components (FP-5 project SPIQNAR). Specific issues addressed in this project are ... [Pg.17]

Programmed High Hazard Inspections OSHA establishes programs of inspection aimed at specific high hazard industries, occupations, or health hazards. Workplaces are selected for inspection on the basis of death, illness and injury rates, employee exposure to toxic substances, etc. [Pg.219]

Planned or Programmed Investigations—inspections aimed at specific high-hazard industries and individual workplaces with high rates of injuries and illnesses. [Pg.96]

A validation plan, consisting of procedures grouped into scenarios, has been prepared for each type of equipment. In this context, the test procedures are derived directly from the technical and functional specifications of the different components. These tests are supplemented by visual inspections, aiming to validate the qualitative aspect of equipment and their installation. The typical errors highlighted during these phases are listed in Table 12.4. [Pg.470]

Consider now the following amplifier, whose nominal gain should be 10, but actually is found to be 1 (Fig. 6.17). The fault may depend on Rl open-circuited or R2 short-circuited. Open and short circuit may be related to faults on the printed circuit board. In this case visual inspection aiming at detecting possible Interruptions, accidentally disconnected components, or stray jumpers has to be carried out first. If nothing comes out of this inspection, measure the resistors Rl and R2 and change the defective one(s). Remember that there is still the possibility of a gain in the operational amplifier much below the nominal value, in which case it has to be replaced. [Pg.126]

We have presented a neural network based spectrum classifier (NSC) aimed at ultrasonic resonance spectroscopy. The ultrasonic spectroscopy and the NSC has been evaluated in many industrial applications, such as concrete inspection, testing of aerospace composite structures, ball bearings, and aircraft multi-layer structures. The latter application has been presented in some detail. [Pg.111]

OPTIMISE, a joint industry project, supported by EC-ESPRIT funding is such a project, where techniques are identified, optimised and validated for the inspection of bulk carriers, with the aim to increase the inspection scope and thus the safety level, at the same time reducing the time needed for the inspections. [Pg.951]

The project "Non-Invasive Inspection within an Asset Risk Management Strategy" is another joint industry project, funded by EC-THERMIE, representing the current trend towards onstream (non-invasive) inspection in combination with risk-based inspection philosophies to establish component condition. In this project, industry and authorities participate aiming at a beneficial use of today s NDT without sacrificing on safety. [Pg.951]

Qualified for PURPA benefits, ie, only owners or operators of faciUties who cl aim qualifying status for PURPA benefits would make filings, some filings are submitted after the faciUties begin operation. FERC does not review notices of qualifying status, has not completed review of all Hsted appHcations for certification, and data provided in the filings are not verified by FERC inspection of the faciUties. [Pg.40]

Potential functions such as MM+ discussed in Chapter 1 are fine for intramolecular interactions. MD was developed long before such sophisticated force fields became available, and in any case the aims of MM and MD simulations tend to be quite different. MM studies tend to be concerned with the identification of equihbrium geometries of individual molecules whilst MD calculations tend to be concerned with the simulation of bulk properties. Inspection of Figure 2.2 suggests that the intramolecular details ought to be less important than the intermolecular ones, and early MD studies concentrated on the intermolecular potential rather than the intramolecular one. [Pg.66]

Most inspection contracts - whether applied to insurance or not - are aimed at obtaining assurance that plant is safe to operate. If the client needs more than this he should therefore define his additional requirements with care and make sure that these have been effectively communicated. This will probably result in the inspection contract being treated as a one-off basis and a more personalized service should result. [Pg.146]

The selection of the 1980-82 measurements (Swedjemark and MjOnes, 1984) was made on dwellings built before 1976 and with the aim of determining dose distributions and the collective dose to the Swedish population from the exposure of the short-lived radon decay products. This was done by using the statistical selection made by the National Institute for Building Research intended for an energy study of the Swedish stock of houses. From a selection of 3 100 houses in 103 municipalities, 2 900 were inspected. The data was found to be in substantial conformity with data from the land register and the population census of 1975. For the study of the radon concentration 752 dwellings were selected at random. [Pg.92]

Acceptance sampling involves the application of a predetermined sampling plan to decide whether a batch of goods meets the defined criteria for acceptance. The main aim of any acceptance sampling must be to see that the customer gets the quality required, while remembering that financial resources are limited and that the cost of the article must reflect the cost of inspection, as well as the cost of production. [Pg.34]

The second type of monitoring Sis are constructed from tools such as (safety) inspections, and (safety) observational programmes. These tools are numerous, van Steen (van Steen, 1996) amongst others provides an overview of many different technical and human based inspections utilized by different companies in the chemical process industry. The aim of this type of tool is to check the presence and effectiveness of technical and human safety measures. This safe way of working is compared with standards (technical and human) and expert opinion to indicate... [Pg.46]

During the audit process the auditors inspect the effective and efficient implementation of the laboratory processes, the capability of processes, the performance results, the improvement activities and they are also looking for opportunities for improvement. The aim of the internal audit is to determine whether the quality management system conforms to the planned arrangements and if it is effectively implemented. [Pg.67]
