Typical re-entrant piston-bowl design for a small, high-speed direct-injection Cl engine. (From Kook, S., Bae, C., Miles, P.C., Choi, D., Bergin, M., and Reitz, R.D., The Effect of Swirl Ratio and Fuel Injection Parameters on CO emission and Fuel Conversion Efficiency for High-Dilution, Low-Temperature Combustion in an Automotive Diesel Engine, SAE, 2006-01-019 2006. FIGURE 8.19 Peak extinction coefficient versus equivalence ratio of fuel/oxygen stream mixture in propane and ethene opposed-jet diffusion flames. /w is the fuel injection parameter. The greater the extinction coefficient, the greater the soot mass. From Ref. [93]. [Pg.474]

A lot of sensitivity and robustness can be gained by carefully designing the injection procedure, so do put some time and effort in this during method development. Do not forget to test injection parameters during the robustness evaluation. There are plenty of examples for... [Pg.130]

In Table 4, an overview is presented of the different experimental parameters of the CE analyses that are included in the analytical instructions part of the specific monographs mentioned above. Notice that the first 13 parameters (from capillary dimensions up to system suitability tests ) are those described in the FDA draft guidance for industry described in paragraph II From this overview it can be concluded that most experimental parameters required by the draft guidance are included in the specific monographs, currently published in the Ph.Eur. and USP. In the monograph for erythropoietin concentrated solution the injection parameters are not included. Only the injection mode (pressure or vacuum) is defined. Instead,... [Pg.162]

The Ferox process offers several potential advantages over conventional permeable barrier walls. For example, Ferox injection parameters may be modified to reflect the contaminant concentration heterogeneities present at most dense non-aqueous-phase liquid (DNAPL) sites. Unlike permeable walls, Ferox is not limited to the treatment of dissolved-phase contaminants and may be applied under structures. In addition, Ferox is not limited by depth and does not require the use of excessive quantities of iron powder. [Pg.377]

Injection parameters. If the injection reproducibility or linearity results are problematic, ensure that the sample vial cap is put on correctly. Sometimes, if the cap is put on incorrectly, the vial cannot be pressurized and injection either fails or is irreproducible. Also, check to make sure that no air bubbles are present in the sample vial. If air is injected into the capillary, poor results will be obtained. [Pg.194]

For the flow conditions of Example. 5-10 calculate the percent reduction in heat transfer at a position where Re, = 5 x I04 and the injection parameter is 0.2. For this calculation assume constant properties evaluated at the average temperature between the recovery and free-stream temperatures. Also calculate the mass flow coolant air required per unit area at this location. [Pg.612]

An airflow at 540°C and l atm impinges on the front side of a porous horizontal cylinder 7.5 cm in diameter at a velocity of 600 m/s. Air is injected through the porous material to maintain the surface temperature at 150°C. Calculate the heat-transfer rate at a distance of 0.75 cm from the stagnation point and with an injection parameter of 0.5. [Pg.630]

So far, the FIA response curves have been discussed as C curves obtained with an infinitesimal narrow input pulse. While this approach is well suited for description of the relation between axial and radial dispersion for different reactors, it is insufficient for description of a real FIA response curve, since the selection of the injected sample volume 5v is the main tool for optimizing the FIA readout. Therefore, using the terminology of this chapter, FIA peaks cover the whole range between the C curve and the F curve (cf. Figs. 2.6a, 3.1, and 3.2) and, therefore, a useful theory must cover the whole range of response curves between the ideal pulse input and ideal step input. For this purpose an injection parameter a = SJVr must be introduced into the dispersion equations. [Pg.118]

Figure 3.15. Theoretical curves for peak height, or dispersion coefficient D, as function of the injected sample volume. Curve A [Eq. (2.3)] is based on the tanks-in-series model (exp(/) for N = 1) when Sv is expressed in 5i/2 units (top axis). Curve B-E are erf(/) for N = 10, N = 7, N = 5, and N = 3, while a ( = SJVr) is the injection parameter [Eq. (3.51)]. Curve B also conforms with Eq. (3.53). Shaded area covers typical FIA conditions. In the aspect of confirming injection parameters reasonably and the numerical simulation, the mathe-matical prediction model between injection parameters and effect was established through quantification theory, and the injection parameters combination was designed for optimizing by Qin Shuyu, Hai guozhi etc (Hai et al. 1994, Qin Qin 2003). The injection parameter of shot size influences the relative density of the microcellular PPS foams. When the relative density of microcellular PPS foam approaches 0.658, the tensile strength becomes 10.82 MPa, the flexural strength reaches 52.99 MPa, and the impact strength achieves 0.305 J cm .
