There appears to be no useful formalism capable of giving a rigorous and succinct description of the complicated behaviour observed in oriented polymers and therefore the formalism of classical elastic theory is retained for describing fime dependent finite strain deformation accepting the lack of rigour and investigating its utility. The individual compliance constants Siy are allowed to become functions of time and of stress and/or strain in any one experiment. 

When interviewed, it was clear that most of the anaesthetists had intended to follow the rule but, for a number of reasons, gradually slipped back. Individual responsibilities—Financial obhgations can be assumed individually by producers or through compliance schemes. Individual compliance means that producers are responsible for their own products, and can benefit from design modifications. 

A modular scanner system for NDE has been developed. It consists of a selection of individual electronics and motor module components, supported by scanner configuration and control software. The modules are used as standard building blocks for construction of job specific, dedicated scanners as well and general purpose scanners. The use of modular scanner components significantly reduce the work, time and cost not only for the design and manufacture but also for establishing documentation and ensure compliance with the relevant EU-directive requirements. 

In current industrial practice gas chromatographic analysis (glc) is used for quahty control. The impurities, mainly a small amount of water (by Kad-Fischer) and some organic trace constituents (by glc), are deterrnined quantitatively, and the balance to 100% is taken as the acetone content. Compliance to specified ranges of individual impurities can also be assured by this analysis. The gas chromatographic method is accurately correlated to any other tests specified for the assay of acetone in the product. Contract specification tests are performed on product to be shipped. Typical wet methods for the deterrnination of acetone are acidimetry (49), titration of the Hberated hydrochloric acid after treating the acetone with hydroxylamine hydrochloride and iodimetry (50), titrating the excess of iodine after treating the acetone with iodine and base (iodoform reaction). 

Tests carried out on protection systems comprise factory tests, on-site commissioning tests and maintenance checks. Those made on individual relays will demonstrate the compliance of the equipment with specification and the verification of its operation under simulated conditions, while tests carried out on-site prior to the equipment being put into service ensure that the full protection scheme and associated equipment operate correctly. However, it is clear that the resting compliance is relatively more important to the springlike behavior of many active smooth muscles. Each smooth muscle must be analyzed individually since the extracellular compartment of each smooth muscle as a histological entity is different. 

The compliance in series with the active force. Force exerted by the activated elements must be transmitted or borne by whatever structural elements are in series with them. In skeletal muscle there is clearly a tendon in series but not so with smooth muscle. In smooth muscle, the total length of contractile apparatus is broken up into individual cells with intercalating extracellular connective structures. A word of caution Metals, materials in general, chemicals used to study metals in the laboratory, chemicals used for corrosion protection, and essentially any chemicals should be (1) used in compliance with all applicable codes, laws, and regulations (2) handled by trained and experienced individuals in keeping with workmanlike environmental and safety standards and (3) disposed only using allowable methods and in allowable quantities. 

The use of individual passwords increases software security. During a study inspection, QA should ensure that the person physically entering the data is the person that has logged on to the system. If not, this is a GLP compliance issue since the person entering the data will not be the person identified as such in the electronic data. QA personnel should have read-only access to the data in order to avoid any inadvertent changes. 

Although it has not been proven that acidification of the urine to increase PCP excretion alters the duration of the symptoms of psychosis, it appears appropriate to facilitate excretion of PCP from the adipose tissue in which it is stored in any PCP user (Done 1980). Maintaining the urine pH at an acid level for several weeks, even though the mental status is normal, is advised. It is important to test the pH of the urine to ensure compliance with the acidification. We have found that PCP becomes detectable in acidified urine for a time, even after being undetectable in alkaline urine, in previously intoxicated individuals. We have not found a change in mental status to result from such acidification treatment and resultant enhanced PCP excretion. 

In the recently released book on worldwide compliance issues (Adherence to Long-term Therapies, Evidence for Action),7 published by the World Health Organization, researchers indicate that the problem of noncompliance is worse in countries in the developing world than in countries in the industrialized world. Many parts of the United States have similar morbidity and mortality rates as countries in the Third World.8 Specific disease states may have significant additional noncompliance ramifications due to the development of drug-resistant strains of bacteria.9 Many times what is necessary is referral to specific clinicians for individualized treatment and monitoring to enhance compliance. The case histories provided in this text will allow you to follow what others have done in similar situations to optimally help patients succeed in improving compliance rates and subsequent positive health outcomes.
