INDEX preheating

The non-Newtonian index is plotted against the blend ratio in Fig. 8. We see that for both the preblends and the preheated blends, the w value increases with NBR content up to about 50% of NBR. Beyond this while the preblend shows a continued increase in n value at a slower rate, the preheated blends seem to show a saturation in n value. The low values of may be attributed to the interchain crosslinking at higher levels of NBR in the blends. 

The properties of the fuel oil blend met the requirements for ASTM No. 4 fuel oil (usually considered a distillate fuel) except that its viscosity was low, falling between the specified requirements for No. 2 and No. 4 fuel oils (7 ), and its pour point of 30° F was higher than the ASTM-recommended maximum of 20° F. The fuel could be used as a low-sulfur, high-cetane-index grade 4-D diesel fuel in warm weather or where preheating facilities were available.

Description Olgone is an alternative solution to clay treating that is used to reduce olefins content and thus, lower the Bromine Index (Bl) of heavy reformate and aromatic extract streams. In this process, a stream of either mixed xylenes, benzene/toluene or a combination of each is preheated in a feed heater (1). The stream is then sent to a liquid-phase reactor (2) containing the ExxonMobil proprietary EM-1800 catalyst. Similar to a clay treater system, a typical Olgone treater system consists of two vessels with one in service and one in standby mode (3). 

The maleimides can be cured by an addition reaction in which no volatiles are evolved. One of the remarkable features of the polymers is their high LOI s (limiting oxygen index) of 100. In other words, these materials do not burn in the presence of oxygen, even when the samples are preheated to 300 0. 

Molding index n. A practical measure of the difficulty of molding of thermosetting compound. A calculated weight of the candidate molding powder, is placed into a flash-type cup mold that has been preheated to the temperature prescribed for the material. The mold is closed and the total minimum force required to close it is reported as the molding index of the compound. 

Chemplex 1014 LDPE pellets (melt index 7) were charged into the mixing chamber of a Brabender Plasticorder which was preheated to 140 or 180 c and mixing at 60 rpm. After 2 min a 40 g charge of LDPE was molten. A mixture of MAH and BPO was added in 4 equal... 

Equation 10.15 is a new form of the generalized drying curve with the reduced time (t/s) and the index of intensity of heating (n). The semi-theoretical origin of Eq. 10.15 allows more accurate predictions to be made of drying kinetics with a minimum of experimental data, and also enables the preheating drying period to... 

The melt index apparatus (Figure 7-1) is preheated to a specified temperature. The material is loaded into the cylinder from the top and a specified weight is placed on a piston. The most commonly used test conditions are shown in Tables 7-3fl and l-3b. The material is allowed to flow through the die. The initial extrudate is discarded because it may contain some air bubbles and contaminants. Depending on the material or its flow rate, cuts for the test are taken at different time intervals. The extrudate is weighed and melt index values are calculated in grams per 10 min. 

The standard procedure [14] requires 1 minute of preheating before the rotation is started. Because the temperature is set at for example, 100 °C, the sample is not even in temperature equilibrium. The procedure is obviously a compromise for obtaining the data quickly. The rotational speed being 2 rpm, most of the rubber at 100 °C shows stress-over-shoot (see section 4.3) [6]. The torque value is recorded after 4 minutes of rotation and expressed as the Mooney unit. At 4 minutes, the torque is usually past the peak and in the relaxation part of the curve but not in the steady state. This is shown in Figure 6.1, for somewhat exaggerated examples, which gave the same Mooney index but vary in viscoelastic behaviour.
