Hydrated quality

When a customer agrees to purchase gas, product quality is specified in terms of the calorific value of the gas, measured by the Wobbe index (calorific value divided by density), the hydrocarbon dew point and the water dew point, and the fraction of other gases such as Nj, COj, HjS. The Wobbe index specification ensures that the gas the customer receives has a predictable calorific value and hence predictable burning characteristics. If the gas becomes lean, less energy is released, and if the gas becomes too rich there is a risk that the gas burners flame out . Water and hydrocarbon dew points (the pressure and temperature at which liquids start to drop out of the gas) are specified to ensure that over the range of temperature and pressure at which the gas is handled by the customer, no liquids will drop out (these could cause possible corrosion and/or hydrate formation). [Pg.194]

Zirconia, ZrOj, is made from the natural hydrated mineral, or from zircon, a silicate. Silicon carbide and silicon nitride are made by reacting silicon with carbon or nitrogen. Although the basic chemistry is very simple, the processes are complicated by the need for careful quality control, and the goal of producing fine (<1 jiva) powders which, almost always, lead to a better final product. [Pg.194]

In the feed preparation section, those materials are removed from the reactor feed which would either poison the catalyst or which would give rise to compounds detrimental to product quality. Hydrogen sulfide is removed in the DBA tower, and mercaptans are taken out in the caustic wash. The water wash removes traces of caustic and DBA, both of which are serious catalyst poisons. Also, the water wash is used to control the water content of the reactor feed (which has to be kept at a predetermined level to keep the polymerization catalyst properly hydrated) and remove NH3, which would poison the catalyst. Diolefins and oxygen should also be kept out of poly feed for good operation. [Pg.226]

Reactions leading to surface-active diamides form emulsions of the hydrated [A1(H20)6]C13 complex. However, by hydrolysis of the RPOCl2-AlCl3 complex with water at a molecular ratio of 1 6-7.5 in methylene chloride at a temperature of -10°C, the A1C13 from the complex reacts selectively forming a precipitation of [A1(H20)6]C13, which can be easily filtered off. From the solvent the alkanephosphonic acid dichloride can be isolated in good quality (Table 4). [Pg.581]

The first point from this development and example is that, although the quasichemical approach is directed towards treating strong attractive - chemical - interactions at short range, it can describe traditional packing problems accurately. The second point is that this molecular-field idea permits us to go beyond the primitive quality noted above of the primitive quasichemical approximation, and specifically to account approximately for the influence of the outer-shell material on the equilibrium ratios Km required by the general theory. This might help with cases of delicate structures noted above with anion hydrates. [Pg.342]

Textured Soy Proteins. Textured vegetable proteins, primarily textured flours and concentrates (50% protein and 70% protein, dry basis, respectfully) are widely used in the processed meat industry to provide meat-like structure and reduce ingredient costs (3-6, 9-10). Available in a variety of sizes, shapes, colored or uncolored, flavored or unflavored, fortified or unfortified, textured soy proteins can resemble any basic meat ingredient. Beef, pork, seafood and poultry applications are possible 03, 4-7, 15, 19) Proper protein selection and hydration is critical to achieving superior finished product quality. Textured proteins have virtually no solubility and, thus, no ability to penetrate into whole muscle tissue Therefore, textured soy proteins are inherently restricted to coarse ground (e.g. sausage) or fine emulsion (e.g. weiners and bologna) products, and comminuted and reformed (i.e. restructured) meat products. None are used in whole muscle absorption or injection applications (2-4, 6, 11). [Pg.97]

The copper compounds include Bordeaux mixture and the so-called fixed coppers including the copper oxides, copper oxychloride, copper oxychloride sulfate, and related materials. Bordeaux mixture, since its discovery about 70 years ago, has been the classic fungicide for the control of late blight and still is more widely used than any other single material. Certain of its qualities, particularly adhesiveness, remain unequaled by its commercial competitors, and it is cheap and effective. However, the inconvenience of preparing Bordeaux mixture, and the unreliable quality of hydrated lime available in most places, have tempted many growers to switch to other copper compounds or organics. [Pg.7]

The use of enantiomers as additional markers for taxonomic characterization of aromatic plants may be very helpful. The differences in the enantiomeric distribution of trans- and cis- sabinene hydrates in two Origanum species enable the species to be distinguished in spite of their similar essential oil compositions. A further study on the natural variation of the enantiomeric composition within a wild population may be carried out in order to examine the stability in a taxon (including the possible presence of chemotypes). The enantiomeric ratio of essential oil components is a reliable parameter for assessing quality because it may be indicative of adulteration, contamination, aging, shelf life, technological process and the botanical source of a specific chiral compound. ... [Pg.157]

The flexible eonformation of dpg/dpg+ is analysed in this paper by reviewing the struetural data of 23 already reported structures and by presenting two new ones N,N -Diphenylguanidinium nieotinate hydrate and N,N -diphenylguanidinium 5-nitrouracilate dihydrate. The reported data were extracted from CSD database release 5.29 [11] and only CIF files eontaining well ordered dpg/dpg+ moieties were used. When multiples studies exist, only the one with better quality factors was chosen. [Pg.106]
