If it is variable, set the outside air intake quantity to the winter value. Set the desired temperature up to a maximum, leaving the humidity setting alone. It will be appreciated that as the room temperature rises during the heating test the rh tends to fall. However, since the humidity setting remains unaltered the humidifying system will be called upon to operate until at one condition it is working at peak winter rate. Due to the faster characteristic of heaters, the rh will be found to fall but absolute moisture should be found to steadily rise. The duration of the test is normally about 3 h and final conditions should be held for half an hour to prove the moisture source. [Pg.454]

So decreasing the temperature from 90 to 70°C actually increases the expected voltage by 15 mV for a fully humidified system because the oxygen mole fraction will increase. There will also be an expected decrease in the exchange current density which can partially or completely offset this trend. The concept of injecting humidified and heated compressed air just after the gas turbine compressor is another very interesting way to increase power and efficiency. In this system, compressed air is added to the compressed discharge air. The compressed air is about 5% of the main gas turbine air and this air after it has been compressed using an external compressor is then injected into an air saturation device where steam obtained from the HRSG unit is then injected into the device to saturate the air with water and the saturated air then is further heated in the HRSG before it is injected into the compressor discharge of the gas turbine. [Pg.108]

Humidified Compressed Air Injeetion System are about the same. This is due to the faet that though the initial eost to install the Compressed Air System, for a turbine of about 100 MW, is about 3.7 million as compared to about 1.7 million for a steam injection system, the power generated by the Heated and Humidified Compressed Air Injection System is much higher. [Pg.109]

NOx Emissions. The amount NO emissions is very eritieal in most regions where gas turbines are being utilized for power generation. Humidification can be achieved by placing separate humidifiers directly in the conditioned space. In order to maintain the design conditions, however, humidity control should be incorporated into the system. When positioning humidifiers, care has to be taken to ensure that the leaving moisture does not impinge on adjacent surfaces, forming lime or algae deposits. [Pg.721]

The influence of airflows from ventilating systems must also be considered. Processes using mediums of different physical qualities when mixed will have separation into different layers. Transmission of energy between molecules in flowing mediums takes place in the direction of the velocity. This strengthens the separation into parallel layers. The level of fluid in containers and tanks is due to stratification of horizontal temperature layers, while airflow after batteries, heat-recovery systems, and humidifiers or dehumidifiers will separate into parallel layers. [Pg.778]

Where dust control is important the system should only be used with a supply of demineralized water to avoid solids being passed into the conditioned space. The temperature of the air must be sufficient to hold the quantity of moisture being supplied, any excess being deposited in the duct. Unless drained away, this can give rise to corrosion and to incorrect control by re-evaporation when the humidifier is switched off under control. [Pg.452]
