Horizontal rotary

Typical uses Processing of fast settling slurries where good washing is required. [Pg.31]

Typical particle size and feed concentration range 20-80000 pm and 10-30+% w/w (table), 5-30+% w/w (tilting pan). [Pg.31]

The two forms of horizontal rotary filter differ primarily in the manner in which the filter cloth is arranged around the periphery of the circular separation surface. [Pg.31]

Conventional extmsion or coextrusion may be performed on vertical or horizontal rotary or shuttle mold configurations. In shuttie blow mol ding the extmder and die are in fixed horizontal and vertical position two or more molds shuttie into and out of position beneath the die. By reciprocating in two planes, the mold may remove a parison and permit the extmder to function continuously. [Pg.455]

Horizontal rotary machines employ multiple molds in a horizontal plane on a rotary turret. As each mold approaches the extmder die exit, it opens to accept the parison and then closes. The parison is then blown into the bottle shape. The extmder must extmde on an intermittent basis or be intermittently withdrawn to provide a parison for each passing mold. [Pg.455]

The Bucher-Guyer horizontal rotary press is a highly automated batch process machine that requires no press aid. The press consists of a horizontal hydrauhc ram inside a rotating cylinder containing many flexible rods covered with a knitted synthetic fabric. The rods have serrated surfaces to allow juice which passes through the fabric to flow to the discharge ends. Hydrauhc pressure is apphed for a preset time, the ram is retracted, and the cylinder is rotated to break up the press cake. This cycle is repeated several times before the press cake is removed from the cylinder and the press is cleaned (16). Juice yield for this horizontal rotary press is 84% with secondary water addition it is increased to 92% (15). [Pg.572]

Disk Filters Disk filters consist of a number of concentric disks mounted on a horizontal rotary shaft. The operating principle is the same as that of rotary-drum vacuum filters. The basic design is illustrated in Figure 22. The disks are formed by using V-shaped hollow sectors assembled radially about a central shaft. Each sector is covered with filter cloth and has an outlet nipple coimected to a manifold... [Pg.358]

The horizontal rotary table filter incorporates, as its name suggests, a horizontal rotary circular table divided into segments or drainage compartments, each of which is ported to a rotary valve underneath the table. The top surface of the table is fitted with a filter medium and walls are provided around the periphery of the table and around the hub. The feed slurry is distributed across the table through a feed box and vacuum is applied to... [Pg.411]

Representative commercial sizes of some types of pressure filters for operation in batch modes are reported in Table 11.11. Some of these data are quite old, and not all of the equipment is currently popular thus manufacturers should be consulted for the latest information. Commercially available size ranges of continuous belt, rotary drum, rotary disk, and horizontal rotary filters are listed in Table 11.12. For the most part these devices operate with vacua of 500 Torr or less. [Pg.321]

Horizontal rotary motion produced by a Ro-Tap sieve shaker, without the aid of the hammer or bumper. [Pg.105]

Horizontal rotary motion combined with a vertical bumping or jarring motion such as produced by the Ro-Tap shaker with the aid of the hammer, which struck the screen frame about 155 times per min. [Pg.105]

Sieve Shaker Use a mechanically operated sieve shaker that imparts to the set of sieves a horizontal rotary motion of between 270 and 300 rotations/min and a tapping action of between 140 and 160 taps/min. The sieve shaker is fitted with a plug to receive the impact of the tapping device. The entire apparatus is rigidly mounted—bolted to a solid foundation, preferably of concrete. Preferably a time switch is provided to ensure the accuracy of test duration. [Pg.858]

Haloclean A pyrolytic process for destroying scrap plastics, especially those derived from scrap electronic equipment. The material is passed through a horizontal rotary kiln containing metal spheres that aid the heat transfer. Developed in Karlsruhe, Germany, and piloted from 2006. [Pg.159]

Excessively dry seeds do not flake well therefore, a higher moisture content is required in oilseeds if they are to be formed into the thin, coherent flakes required for solvent extraction. Conditioners are usually used to add the proper amount of moisture. A conditioner can be either a vertical stacked kettle or a horizontal rotary cylinder. The units are steam jacketed and provision is made so that either steam and or water can be injected as a source of additional moisture (38). For solvent extraction, cracked soybeans are adjusted to a moisture content of 10-11% and flaked while still hot and slightly plastic that is, while at a temperature of 71-77°C (160-170°F) (36). Flaking hot minimizes fines production and also reduces power consumption (35). In the flaking rolls and transport equipment, the flakes will lose about one percentage point of moisture and enter the extractor at around 57-60°C (135-140°F). [Pg.2521]

The photograph of the XLLL cross-axis CPC (L/R = 3.5) equipped with a pair of multilayer coil separation columns is shown in fig. 1. The apparatus holds a pair of horizontal rotary shafts symmetrically, one on each side of the rotary frame, at a distance of 3.8 cm from the centrifuge axis. A spool-shaped column holder is mounted on each rotary shaft at an off-center position 13.5 cm away from the midpoint. Each multilayer coil separation column was prepared from a 2.6-mm-inner diameter (i.d.) FIFE (polytetrafluoro-ethylene) tubing by winding it onto the coil holder hub, forming multiple layers of left-handed coils. [Pg.470]
