High pressure effects effect

Airless Spraying the process of atomisation of paint by forcing it through an orifice at high pressure. This effect is often aided by the vaporisation of the solvents especially if the paint has been previously heated. The term is not generally applied to those electrostatic spraying processes which do not use air for atomisation. 

The ideal gas values can be used for the real gases at low pressures. At high pressures the effect of pressure on the specific heat may be appreciable. 

The fundamental fact on which the analysis of heterogeneous reactions is based is that when a component is present as a pure liquid or as a pure solid, its activity may be taken as unity, provided the pressure on the system does not differ very much from the chosen standard state pressure. At very high pressures, the effect of pressure on solid or liquid activity may be determined using the Poynting correction factor.

At the end of the experiment, the reaction bed was allowed to cool in a hydrogen atmosphere. In some experiments, nitrogen was used instead of hydrogen to confirm that the effects observed were in fact associated with hydrogenation of the coal rather than with high pressure effects.

The volume of gas does not change in the first two reactions, i.e. 3 moles - 3 moles. Consequently, the increase in the output of heat from the oxidation of aluminium prolongs the presence of high pressures. This effect is utilized in explosive compositions for airblasts, lifting and heaving, or large underwater bubbles. However, there is a limit to the amount of aluminium that can be added to an explosive composition as shown in Table 5.18.

Equation (305) is unique in chemical kinetics in that it holds true at pressures varying by a factor of 2000 viz., from 1/4 atm (116) to 500 atm (115) (with high pressure effects taken into account). As far as I know, no other reaction has been studied in such a broad pressure range.
