Hemoglobin standards

Figure 3. A) Hemoglobin standards A, F, S and C, AS and C separated on a five per cent T, pH 6-8 gradient of Pharmalyte. B) Same samples on a similar rehydratable gel. Both A and B were made with the same base reagents at the same time and were bonded to silanized glass plates. Figure 3. One Anson unit is the amount of enzyme that, under standard conditions, digests hemoglobin at an initial rate, Hberating per minute an amount of TCA-soluble product which produces the same color with phenol reagent as one milliequivalent of tyrosine (91). [Pg.301]

Note The numbers are the dilutions of a solution of metridiolysin which will liberate half the hemoglobin contained in a 0.35% (vA ) suspension of erythrocytes under standard conditions. [Pg.309]

Two sets of samples have been analyzed on one plate with a standard mixture of the hemoglobins C, S, A, and F occupying the fourth position from the ton. The data show that the hemoglobins A, F, S, and C are readily separated that the hemoglobins E and Dp do not separate from Hb-A and that some p-chain variants can readily be separated from Hb-F, Hb-A, Hb-S. or Hb-C (examples are the unidentified Hb-J, Hb-Fort Gordon (see also Figure 14), and Hb-O-Arab). [Pg.13]

A standard initial laboratory evaluation for anemia includes a complete blood count (evaluation of the serum hemoglobin and hematocrit concentration, white blood cell count, platelets), measurement of the red blood cell count and size, and review of peripheral smear. [Pg.975]

Class II devices are those for which general controls alone are insufficient to provide reasonable assurance of safety and effectiveness and for which sufficient information is available to establish special controls to provide this assurance. Special controls may include performance standards, postmarket surveillance, and guidance for analytical/clinical data. Examples of class II IVDs are automated differential cell counters, fetal hemoglobin test systems, sickle-cell tests, and Toxoplasma gondii serological reagents. [Pg.58]

Arylhydrocarbon (benzo[a]pyrene) hydroxylase, benzphetamine-N-demethylation, ethylmorphine-N-demethylation, ethoxycoumarin-0-deethylation and ethoxyresorufin-0-deethylation were performed by published procedures (31,32,33,34), but optimized for use with trout microsomes as described previously (30, 35). Hemoprotein P-450 was determined by the procedure of Estabrook et al. (36) to avoid spectral interference by hemoglobin. Microsomal protein content was estimated either by the method of Ross and Shatz (37) or Lowry et al. (38), using bovine serum albumin standards. [Pg.321]

Isolation of hemoglobin, removal of water, followed by alkaline hydrolysis of adducts addition of 2,2 -dichloro-benzidine as internal standard extraction suing toluene containing 5% 2-propanol derivatization using HFBA. [Pg.135]

Isolation of hemoglobin followed by alkaline hydrolysis of adducts, cleanup using C g SPE, addition of internal standard. [Pg.135]

Nitrate in drinking water above the standard poses an immediate threat to children under three months of age. In some infants, excessive levels of nitrate have been known to react with the hemoglobin in the blood to produce an anemic condition commonly known as blue baby. If the drinking water contains an excessive amount of nitrate, it should not be given to infants under three months of age and should not to be used to prepare formula. The standard allows for 10.0 mg of nitrate (as N) per liter of water. Nitrate can be removed from water by ion exchange, RO, or distillation [48]. [Pg.78]

Monitoring Carefully monitor standard hypercalcemia-related metabolic parameters, such as serum levels of calcium, phosphate, magnesium, and potassium following pamidronate and zoledronic acid initiation. Also, closely monitor electrolytes, creatinine as well as CBC, differential and hematocrit/hemoglobin. Carefully monitor patients who have preexisting anemia, leukopenia or thrombocytopenia in the first 2 weeks following treatment. [Pg.366]

Standard hematologic tests Including hemoglobin (pretreatment, week 2 and week 4 of therapy, and as clinically appropriate) (see Warninqs). [Pg.1781]

The hemoglobin-catalyzed oxidation of o-phenylenediamine to 2,3-diaminophenazine (100), in phosphate-citric acid buffer at pH 5.0, shown in equation 30, is the basis for a kinetic method for determination of H2O2, in a FIA system, measuring at 425 mn by the stopped-flow method. The LOD is 9.2 nM, with RSD 2.08% at 0.5 p,M and linearity in the 50 to 3500 nM range . This colorimetric method was proposed for development as a standard procedure in the Republic of China for determination of H2O2 in foodstuffs . ... [Pg.634]
