HAST testing

Notq In the opinion of Dr Deffet, tests. A, B C do not suffice because they do not det the e[fi-cz erccy(rendemenc) of expls. The efficiency depends on several factors, such as brisance, pressure of expln, deton velocity, velocity of development of gaseous pressure and velocity of shock wave. As some of these props are difficult, or even impossible to det, Dr Deffet proposes to include at least one of these tests, namely brisance among control tests. The method selected by Dr Deffet is the Hast Test, in which the compression (crushing) of a copper cylinder serves as a measure of brisance and is described in detail on p449 of the above Ref... [Pg.28]

Further assessment of atopy in the pathogenesis of the acute byssinotic reaction necessitates purification of well characterized and standardized cotton dust antigens, and the development of an allergy specific test (HAST) to measure serum IgE antibodies to cotton dust allergens. Such developments would allow correlation of skin tests, clinical history, dust exposure, FEVj and serum IgE level with specific IgE to cotton dust allergens. [Pg.169]

Highly accelerated moisture tests (HAST) were performed in a two-zone Hirayama pressure chamber in which samples were exposed to 145°C, 85% R.H. and 18V bias. Periodically, the devices were removed from the pressure chamber and the linear devices were tested for electrical performance in a Gen Rad 1731M Linear IC Test System. This instrument monitors several device parameters. All of these parameters remained within specifications until the devices failed due to open circuitry resulting from corrosion. Earlier tests were performed at 131°C, 85% R.H. and 30V bias (2). Under these conditions the test requires long times. Short test times are readily achieved at 145°C (6). [Pg.388]

These molding compounds were also used to encapsulate electronic devices for reliability testing. In Figures 4, 5, and 6, stable bromine CEN outperformed "state-of-the-art" resins in the bias pressure cooker device test (BPC), high temperature storage device test (HTS), and the highly accelerated stress test (HAST). [Pg.402]

Moulder s contention of metabolic similarities would eventually be shown to be incorrect however, examination of the basis for his conclusion allows an appreciation of how concepts and techniques can influence interpretation. In 1944, the United States Office of Scientific Research and Development was created with a Board for the Coordination of Malaria Studies to better understand the mode of action of anti-malarials in order to protect United States troops in Southeast Asia, North America and the Pacific. A member of that Board was W. Mansfield Clark (1884-1964), Professor of Physiological Chemistry (1927-1952) at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. His colleague in the department was Leslie Hellerman (1896-1981) whose work focused on metallo-enzyme functions. Hellerman and his student, Marianna Bovarnick (1911-1995), involved themselves in the testing of the biochemical effects of atabrine. Another malaria project was sponsored at Harvard under A. Baird Hastings, chair of the Department of Biological Chemistry, also a member of the Board. Eric Ball (1904—1979) was a graduate student and then a faculty member in Mansfield Clark s department at Johns Hopkins (1930-1939) and spent 1... [Pg.11]
