Hard disc drive

Hard-disc drive heads are subjected to a heavier use and therefore need a different design in order to prevent wear and extend the useful life of both the disc and the head. Hard-disc drive heads (also known as Winchester heads) make no physical contact with the hard disc. They are designed to fly very close to the disc, supported by the air flow resulting from the disc rotation. Fig. 5.18. The magnetic element in Winchester heads is usually a Mn-Zn ferrite. [Pg.209]

Researchers at LNP Engineering Plastics [29] reported use of a thermally conductive compound to encapsulate voice coil motors (VCM) in hard disc drives. The software tools used for our pipeline require a 64-bit CPU computer running on open-source Ubuntu Linux OS (http // www.ubuntu.com/). This pipeline is based on pure C++ project, so it does not depend on other library. The standard Linux system environment is suflficient. Optical media is more durable than electromagnetic tape and is less vulnerable to environmental conditions.
