A study on the GHG emissions reductions predicted for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the United States was conducted, with the finding that 50% reduction was achievable for fuel cells when using natural gas feedstock, compared to comparable gasoline vehicles. These reductions are lower for hydrogen delivery by truck, or if produced by electrolysis using grid power [4]. [Pg.6]

An analysis of two important early markets, forklift propulsion systems and distributed power generation, was conducted at Argonne National Laboratory [5] to compare the potential energy and environmental implications of fuel cell systems to incumbent teclmologies. The study results indicated lower GHG emissions compared to those associated with the [Pg.6]

The analysis for distributed power generation indicates that fuel cell technologies will produce lower GHG emissions than those produced by the U.S. grid mix of technologies and all other distributed generation technologies. This reduction in lower pollutant emissions than combustion generators, combined with the opportunity for reduced dependence on petroleum oil, indicates the potential for fuel cells to readily penetrate the distributed electricity market. [Pg.7]
