A new edition of the code is issued every 3 years. Between editions, alterations are handled by issuing semiannual addenda, which may be purchased by subscription. The ASME considers any issue of the code to be adequate and safe, but some government authorities specify certain issues of the code as their legal requirement. 

In contrast to this, the main objective of price regulation in Spain is to contain the pharmaceutical bill of the SNS.14 The Directorate-General of Pharmacy fixes the ex-factory price of each and every one of the presentations of the pharmaceuticals included in public health care. Under Article 6(2), if a particular substance previously was the subject of a PMN by another company, the notifier may rely upon data submitted in the prior notification(s). While those in favor of medicinal marijuana provide large amounts of data indicating the benefits of making it a prescription drug, government authorities and others counter with claims that the data is unscientific.
