Gaskets replacement

Train the engineering staff on the revised standard Periodically review the design of equipment carrying this material to ensure that the proper gaskets are being specified Review maintenance work orders to determine the number of gasket replacements that are performed as a result of the inappropriate gasket materials... [Pg.261]

Repair aU vacuum leaks by tightening joints, replacing gaskets, replacing tubing and/or compression nuts. [Pg.412]

Anaerobic sealants are particularly effective as form-in-place gaskets for rigid flange structures. The anaerobic gasket replaces gasket inventories, but more importantly. [Pg.47]

Appropriate forms of anaerobic composition make very successful gasket replacements - particularly because they are virtually incompressible. Furthermore, the same material may be used to seal several different assemblies unlike the conventional gasketting techniques which are very application specific. [Pg.72]

The WECAC Armament Materials Team performed the material tests on elastomeric materials for a gasket replacement on 120-mm mortar metal/plastic containers (PA154). The neoprene gasket showed the best results in all the testing (app. B). For further details see ARDEC Technical report ARWEC-TR-01008. [Pg.19]

While with-in the mobile x-ray system, the waste in the sampler, is contained within a replaceable (and disposable) polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sleeve with a wall thickness of approximately 0.2-inches and a sealed bottom. It was anticipated that the PVC tube or sleeve would, with use, become highly contaminated with waste residues which drip of fall-off the sampler. The sleeve is coated with a conductive coating to prevent static electricity buildup . There are no sources of ignition in this sealed spare. The sampler (and waste) is coupling which includes a positive pressure gasket. This barrier is further isolated by a second barrier consisting of an epoxy coated aluminum sleeve also sealed-off from the main x-ray cabinet and PVC sleeve. There are also no potential sources of ignition in this isolated secondary space as well. [Pg.611]

Parts made from fluoroelastomers ate used ia appHcations that justify their high cost, usually where the maintenance and replacement costs are high enough to offset the initial cost of the part. These include automotive appHcations such as valve stem seals, fuel injector components, radiator, crankcase and transmission seals, and carburetor needle tips. Numerous seals and gaskets in the marine, oilfield, and chemical processing industries employ fluoroelastomers. In addition, many hoses in the automotive and chemical industry are made entirely of fluoroelastomer compounds or have a veneer of the fluoroelastomer as a barrier exposed to the harsh environment. Seals and gaskets in military appHcations and the binder for flares and missile appHcations ate made with fluoroelastomers. [Pg.234]

Gaskets uti1i2ed in ethyleneamine service generally are made of Grafod flexible graphite or polytetrafluoroethylene (TEE). There is no single elastomer that is acceptable for the entire product line, although TEE may be considered as an alternative to elastomers across the product line. However, because TEE is not a tme elastomer, it may not always prove suitable as a replacement. [Pg.46]

When such welding is not possible, a bhnd -gasket type of construction is utilized. The blind gasket is not accessible for maintenance or replacement once the unit has been constructed. This construction is used for steam surface condensers, which operate under vacuum. [Pg.1066]

Tubes can be replaced. Tube-side headers, channel covers, gaskets, etc., are accessible for maintenance and replacement. Neither the shell-side baffle structure nor the bhnd gasket is accessible. During tube removal, a tube may break within the shell. When this occurs, it is most difficiilt to remove or to replace the tube. The usual procedure is to plug the appropriate holes in the tube sheets. [Pg.1066]

Routinely replace gaskets when changing filters etc. [Pg.139]

The leaks that lead to explosions in compressor houses are often not from a compressor but from other equipment, such as pipe joints. One such leak occurred because a spiral-wound gasket had been replaced by a compressed asbestos fiber one, probably as temporary measure, seven years earlier. Once installed, it was replaced by a similar one during subsequent maintenance [30]. [Pg.69]

Lower cost per fL of heat-transfer surface. Replaceable straight tubes allow for easy internal cleaning. Full tube bundle minimizes shell-side bypassing. No packedjoints or internal gaskets, so hot and cold fluids cannot mix due to gasket failure. [Pg.240]

All packing and gaskets should be replaced during the assembly procedures. [Pg.604]

Where definite loss of color by bleaching is noted, the content and container should be inspected to determine the cause. If correctable, such as a faulty gasket, broken container, etc, the gasket is changed or the powder is transferred to another container. A new strip of test paper is inserted and the proplnt replaced in storage with the container definitely marked to insure reinspection at the end of one year. [Pg.137]
