Funding advantages

The patentee should develop and implement a poHcy for auditing its patent portfoHo in the process of paying maintenance fees to the U.S. PTO. This practice should also be used to justify the further payment of aimuities to foreign national patent offices. Maintenance fees and aimuities can constitute a substantial portion of funds expended in the protection of patents over a year s time. Further, without a tangible, real commercial value or advantage stemming from the patent, there may be Htde justification for maintaining the patent over its last five years of life. 

Economic concerns. Many companies are unaware of the economic advantages associated with poUiition prevention. Legitimate concerns may include decreased profit margins or the lack of funds required for the initial capital investment. 

MHD efforts in many countries, including the United States, have declined substantially, in Russia because of lack of funds and in general because the high costs envisioned in setting up a full-scale power station. If funds become available to set up full-scale power stations and with the advent of high temperature nuclear heat sources, the many advantages provided by MHD may be realised. 

The advantage of test measurements is easy access. The disadvantage is the fact that there is no funding of travel expenses and accommodation.
