Foundations foundation bolts

The foundation bed or the structure on which the motor is mounted is not rigid, is tilted or is uneven. Tighten foundation bolts and check for proper alignment of the motor and the drive. Make the foundation or structure as rigid as possible. [Pg.240]

Don t connect the piping to the pump until the cement base and grouting is fully cured, and all foundation bolts are tightened. [Pg.149]

After the gear eheeks have been made, the foundation bolts should be uniformly tightened and the alignment reeheeked. It may be neeessary to repeat the shimming and tightening of foundation bolts to obtain final, eorreet eold alignment. [Pg.536]

Loose or broken foundation bolts. WATER IN LUBE OIL 1. Condensation in oil reservoir. [Pg.324]

The explosions tore vessel A off its foundation bolts, and one foot of the vessel tore off a 30 X 30 cm (12 x 12 in.) piece of plate from its side. The release of carbon dioxide through this hole caused the vessel to be thrown into the process laboratory like a rocket, resulting in five casualties. The explosion caused vessel B to be tom loose from its connecting pipes, but without further consequences. [Pg.29]

Mounting pads shall be provided for the pump and all drive train components. The pads shall be larger than the foot of the mounted equipment to allow leveling of the baseplate without removal of the equipment. The pads shall be fully machined flat and parallel. Corresponding surfaces shall be in the same plane within 150 pm/m (0.002 in./ft) of distance between the pads. This requirement shall be met by supporting and clamping the baseplate at the foundation bolt holes only. [Pg.45]

When specified, the vendor shall test to demonstrate that the pnmp and its baseplate assembly, when anchored at foundation bolt hole locations with any bearing housing support discoimected, are in compliance with 3.3.5. The pump casing shall be snbjected to moments MYq and MZ applied to either nozzle, bnt not both, snch that the corresponding shaft displacements can be measnred and recorded. MY and... [Pg.45]

The horizontal pumps are available for capacities up to 900 m /h (4000 gahmin) the vertical in-line pumps, for capacities up to 320 m /h (1400 gahmin). Both horizontal and vertical in-line pumps are available for heads up to 120 m (400 ft). The intent of each ANSI specification is that pumps from all vendors for a given nominal capacity and total dynamic head at a given rotative speed shall be dimensionally interchangeable with respect to mounting, size, and location of suction and discharge nozzles, input shaft, base plate, and foundation bolts. [Pg.35]

The foundation will be octagon shaped because it combines the features of stability, ease of construction, and minimum material better than other shapes. The top course will have a short diameter of six feet because the tower is four feet in diameter. Allowance must be made for foundation bolts. Assume that the short diameter of the base is 13.5 ft. The base thickness depends on the bending and shearing forces, however, at this time assume the thickness to be two feet. [Pg.347]

The number of foundation bolts should never be less than 8, and should preferably be 12 or more. The larger the number of bolts, the better the stresses are distributed, and the less danger there is resulting from a loose nut on one bolt. [Pg.351]

Foundation bolts for guyed towers are required to resist the shearing action of the wind pressure at the base of the tower. It is obvious that ample allowance should be made in the size of the bolts to provide for the initial tension caused by tightening the nuts and for corrosion. [Pg.353]

The value of Sg can be determined in a manner somewhat similar to that proposed in the part on foundation bolts. There, the overturning load was calculated as a function of the periphery of the foundation bolt circle by means of equations (11-30) and (11-33). The bolt circle was assumed to be a hollow cylinder the wall thickness being infinitely small, as compared with the diameter. [Pg.357]

Considerable inconvenience is sometimes encountered when setting the tower in place because it is difficult to lower the heavy vessel over the foundation bolts without bending them or damaging the threads. Figure 11-2 illustrates this difficulty. A sleeve nut is welded to the top of the bolt. It is placed so that the top of the nut lies slightly below the surface of the concrete, with a sheet metal sleeve around it. The tower may then be placed in position without interference from the bolts. Stud bolts are next inserted through the lugs on the tower, and screwed into sleeve nuts from the top. [Pg.362]

Foundation drawing shall be given by vendor along with supply of foundation bolts. [Pg.51]

Foundation bolts must be of proper size, grouted securely, and provided with lock nuts, so they will not become loose due to vibrations when the machineiy is mnning. [Pg.74]

Support legs and foundation bolts shall be as per maximum load expected with all external fittings, gearbox, agitator, raw material loaded inside, etc. [Pg.77]
