Filters apparel

In 1992, as much as two-thkds of all spunlace fabrics were used in medical products other appHcations included wipes, industrial apparel, intedinings, absorbent components, filtration, and coating. Medical product appHcations also accounted for about one-thkd of all wet-laid nonwovens other appHcations included tea bags, meat casings, filter media, battery separators, and wipes. Most bonded-pulp fabrics were used as wipes or absorbent components. [Pg.157]

Textiles are among the most ubiquitous materials ia society. They provide shelter and protection from the environment ia the form of apparel, as weU as comfort and decoration ia the form of household textiles such as sheets, upholstery, carpeting, drapery, and wall coveting, and they serve a variety of iadustrial functions, eg, as tire reinforcement, tenting, filter media, conveyor belts, iasulation, and reinforcement media ia various composite materials. [Pg.438]

Cigarette filters, 61% yam (especially for apparel, curtains, draperies, bedspreads, quilt covers), 39%. [Pg.324]

The principal textile applications of hoth acetate and triacetate libels are in women s apparel and home-furnishing fabrics. Allhough the use ot acetate fiber for textile applications has generally declined, the total worldwide production tif cellulose acelate increased owing to tow lor cigarette filters. [Pg.630]

Cotton is really a very versatile fiber in that it takes color easily, absorbs moisture readily, and is durable in a wide variety of environments. Cotton yam finds use in all kinds of clothing, often mixed with synthetic fibers. In fact, according to one estimate almost half of all textiles worldwide are made of cotton (Thompson, 1994). Besides apparel, cotton fiber is used in coffee filters, fishnets, lace, upholstery, etc. It is biodegradable and can be used as a sorbent in oil spills. [Pg.52]

Use Packaging film molded parts for automobiles, appliances, housewares, etc. wire and cable coating food container closures coated and laminated products bottles artificial grass and turfs plastic pipe wearing apparel (acid-dyed) fish nets surgical casts strapping synthetic paper reinforced plastics nonwoven disposable filters. [Pg.1018]

Prepared filaments and fibres are applied not only in the floor coverings as the most important utilization for PP, but also medical, hygienic, apparel, automotive and/or agricultural sectors became crucial, for applications such as disposable diapers, sports underwear and equipment, artificial grass, geo textiles, ropes, car seats, oil wipes, wet and dry filters or membranes. Physical and chemical properties of polyolefins fibres are developed for many applications, in order to increase comfort characteristics, tensile strength, and/or other utility properties they are often blended, co-processed or combined with other materials such as polar acrylics, wool, bonding agents, hydrophilic fillers, or stabilizers. [Pg.102]

The material is widely used for bristles in industrial and domestic bmshes, and for many textile applications. High tenacity and good elasticity are utilized in nylon rope, thread, and cord. Good resistance to abrasion and chemical attack is utiUzed in belting and filter cloth applications. Nylon fibers are also widely used as tire cord (nylon 6 and nylon 6/6), apparel, and carpets (nylon 6/6). The ability to give nylon a permanent set by an annealing process at about 100°C has been utilized in the production of permanently pleated garments as well as in preshaped hosiery. [Pg.374]

Further field tests demonstrated that in spite of the excellent thermal and fire resistance, shrinking of the fabrics occurred above the glass-transition temperature which might expose the wearer to flames. Based on the results obtained in an Air Force contract at Dynatech Co., the Celanese Research Co. developed a two-stage process that reduced the shrinkage from 50 to 6%. The process was also amenable to on-line processing. The sulfonated derivative is the fiber which was marketed by the Celanese Corp. Some end uses include replacement of asbestos, thermal and chemical safety apparel, and stack gas filter bags, airline seat covers, firemen turn coats, and race car driver suits. [Pg.3800]

MCPs find many applications in housing and construction, sporting goods, vehicles, electrical and electronic products, chemical and biochemical applications, and the textile and apparel industry. They can be used in siding, pipes, electrical wire, automotive seats and other parts, airplane parts, filters, shoe soles, office... [Pg.4665]

Flame-retarded PP fibers are used in the manufacture of indoor-outdoor carpets, in upholstery and apparel or barrier fabrics monofilaments are used for ropes, cordage, outdoor furniture, webbing, automobile seat covers, filter cloths, etc. Flame-retarding man-made fibers and their mixtures still poses diffieulties for the textile finisher, the process being very expensive. Most eommereial flame retardants may alter the aestheties or performanee of the finished produet. [Pg.577]
