The Department of Energy Fundamentals Handbook entitled Instrumentation and Control was prepared as an information resource for personnel who are responsible for the operation of the Department s nuclear facilities. A basic understanding of instrumentation and control is necessary for DOE nuclear facility operators, maintenance personnel, and the technical staff to safely operate and maintain the facility and facility support systems. The information in the handbook is presented to provide a foundation for applying engineering concepts to the job. This knowledge will help personnel more fully understand the impact that their actions may have on the safe and reliable operation of facility components and systems. [Pg.7]

The notification requirements do not apply if a building owner plans renovation projects that will disturb less than the NESHAP limits of 160 square feet of friable ACM on facility components or 260 linear feet of friable ACM on pipes (quantities involved over a one-year period). For renovation operations in which the amount of ACM equals or exceeds the NESHAP limits, notification is required as soon as possible. [Pg.93]

Do not inspect or touch any test facility components until they are cool. [Pg.399]

The second issue is the basic knowledge of material selection. What do we mean by material selection Material selection basically means the meeting of the main requirements of materials for a particular facility/component or utility. The following are the main requirements of material selection at room temperature ... [Pg.198]

Programs are in place to ensure facility components are maintained and controlled within specified operating envelopes and in accordance with regulatory requirements ... [Pg.160]

Sodium fire was observed in 14 cases. All leaks were detected in due time by control systems or operators. Total number of leaks can be distributed with respect to reactor facility components in the following way ... [Pg.127]

Many technology-based systems will have a facility component This can range from the supply of special-purpose power and network connections to the renovation of a space for a particular need, providing new electrical and mechanical infrastructures. It is important that the facilities component be incorporated into any technology plan. [Pg.978]

A thorough state of the art literature review on the corrosion of aluminium alloys was compiled by the IAEA in 1998. This review was published in IAEA-TECDOC-1012, Durability of Spent Nuclear Fuels and Facility Components in Wet Storage. It covered a wide range of quantitative and semi-quantitative data on cladding alloys used in nuclear fuel elements and assemblies, and included separate sections on corrosion of aluminium, zirconium, stainless steel, carbon steels and copper alloys in a wet storage... [Pg.4]

The facility tagout program shall provide protection for personnel and facility components and systems during operation, maintenance, and modification activities. In addition, provisions within the tagout program shall provide for independent verification (in-process inspection) of the removal from service and restoration to service of safety-related or important-to-safety systems and for activities that have a potential for impacting worker safety. [Pg.452]
